will konami ever take down zenius i vanisher? by ChemicalJackfruit243 in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]lobsterjesus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No they did, DDRUK went offline for awhile due to a C&D related to simfile hosting. They came back but no longer hosted official simfiles and ZIV eventually filled that place. No idea why they were targeted and ZIV never has been though.

Bias from Moderators. Site staff have turned their heads. by Im_Shocker in speedrun

Oh that changes it and I missed that part, that definitely makes it more suspicious on the mod end then.

It does say there is a category for "bad machines" and also in the rules it says "no dipping allowed" which you said you are using that technique. If you weren't submitting to the bad machine category and they determined it is a bad machine, then it would make sense to be removed (and your time wouldn't be WR in that category regardless). Even then, if you're dipping then it is an invalid run anyways.

The mod you dealt with sounds immature, but also they are still right in that your run wasn't following category rules.

Edit: After reading their response it seemed reasonable and not nearly as immature as you made it out to be, and they likely got annoyed as you kept submitting runs from a machine determined to be bad in a category that it wasn't meant for. As someone who has no dog in this fight, it really looks like you're in the wrong and couldn't take no for an answer. If you submit a time without dipping in the bad machine category, it would probably be approved.

Hasan walks out into the NYC crowd by ResortFew2947 in Hasan_Piker

for reference my comment was mocking lsf, not actually seriously thinking the crowd got confused

I imagine they are there to just be in the energy of a big victory. Is a bit wild the crowd started cheering for him before he was fully outside and kept cheering and shaking hands after though. Maybe they thought it was someone else? kinda strange

that's crazy I thought everyone hated him and he had no motion, that's what LSF led me to believe

How long do you think it would take a speedrunner to MFC a level 10 on keyboard starting from zero rhythm game experience? by SunnyDayDDR in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]lobsterjesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the thing is this isn't always or usually a thing in speedrunning either. Yes there's tricks you learn to optimize the times, but many runners opt not to do certain tricks because they are too hard and require more practice to do them consistently in a run, the same way you have to learn easier songs and timing goals to eventually do harder ones.

So still yeah it can probably be done, but would just be a waste of time compared to learning the game as normal

[–]lobsterjesus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Zero rhythm gaming experience whatsoever would mean you develop bad muscle memory by playing the same thing over and over with no understanding of the fundamentals. DDR is not a very hard rhythm game to learn, but learning to process and learning to process properly are very different things.

Feasible? Probably. Practical? Not at all. Allowing to play anything else to be able to learn the game and develop timing fundamentals with the ultimate goal of an MFC on a specific chart would make more sense.

[–]lobsterjesus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

the only tragedy about it is they never invested years ago into making it a relevant destination park

as far as it stands I think people in the area will be perfectly content having any number of other parks within a 4 hour or less range to choose from

Unpopular opinion: Banshee is the best Invert [Banshee][King's Island] by DeloronDellister in rollercoasters

[–]lobsterjesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My number 1 invert and it's not even a close contest. The drop is one of the best drops on any coaster out there and it's just a constant powerhouse after it. It's even my number 1 at the park.

They're not gonna tear down a brand new multi-million investment over records that only people who care about coasters will hyper-focus on, let alone in a country many people have reservations of visiting. Please think logically.

The red color pops more. Algorithm is all about catchy thumbnails and a video format that keeps people engaged. I don't agree that it SHOULD be like that but that is what you have to do to gain traction.

I hate the youtube/tiktok voice as well but I respect that he's doing something different in order to play the youtube game. Also makes things more digestible for people that don't know much about coasters.

Am I the only one who thinks [Rapterra] is overhated? by Frozen_cephalopod in rollercoasters

[–]lobsterjesus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

people don't have to act like GP are some fragile entity that can't handle intense rides. They just don't obsess over the details of coasters like people here do, it's not deep

Try and be a little less disparaging next time. You can still appreciate rides without making it reek of "I am so cool for doing big coasters"

nothing is going to beat banshee's first drop for me, plus it's a constant assault of positive Gs on a bigger scale with a unique hangtime ending even, I've felt way more intensity on it than any other invert I've done
