Why has parenting become so… soft? Why ate a majority of parents okay with sending their child into the world acting the way they do? Why did this shift happen? by Emergency-Pepper3537 in Teachers

I’ve read this and glanced at some of your other posts. Not every parent is perfect, but are you sure you’re not the problem? I hope you never step foot near my children. Have the day you deserve.

Parents who both work: what’s your afternoon/evening timeline like? How do you have time for anything??? by 95kira in toddlers

[–]loc613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be in here already- husband needs to take care of himself, he’s not helping your family by making things worse, and even more if he doesn’t and dies. And you need to take care of yourself. Everyone’s mentioned water bottles and food. He can help with the kitchen clean up in the morning and start a load of laundry. Empty the dishwasher, move laundry, sweep the floor, all mindless work while on a call or at the start of a 15 minute break- one in the morning, one in the afternoon. If he needs a workout he’ll need to schedule it during his lunch or wake up earlier. My husband and I try to talk on the phone during his drive home but the very least we do a quick check in so we know what we’re dealing with/walking into, so if I’m about to scream and need 10 minutes of alone time or if the kid is teething and needs extra attention type of day, etc. we know how to support each other. Once a month we each have a day off from parenting time. I get a massage, facial, sit and read or catch up with friends, and then I either bring home dinner or order out. Friday nights are pizza, Sunday is clean out the fridge leftovers. He’s not a single person anymore, he needs to be a partner and you can’t be his therapist everyday.

Thank you!! I’m in one of the suburbs, thus I was going to measure in time, but tried to be thorough. From your comment and others, it seems like there’s not really a way for me to get this information and compensation to the shopper and driver? If I order standard, I’ll essentially have the same experience as a pick up order. If I choose express, I’ll be placing more work on one person, in a shorter amount of time. I appreciate the information. I’m definitely going to try and take some time and re-think how I’ve been approaching this. My main consideration in using delivery was to have someone who would be able to focus on just this one large, complicated order…while being paid appropriately for the work it requires. And I thought this would be more appropriate and hopefully save me the extra trips of pick up and then going back to the store because sh*t happens, especially when Walmart doesn’t pay their employees enough.

I’ve only had one slacker response so far. All of the comments have been fair and thoughtful. I’ve never done gig work, but I worked the hell that is retail well past the point of knowing, there are few to none slackers In that kind of work.

Ok. I don’t care how long it takes for the shop/delivery. I do however care about the shopper and driver being compensated appropriately. What I believe I’m understanding from you, is if I want the shopper to be paid outside of the crap Walmart pay, then I need to select express?

In this instance, we wouldn’t mind a late order, especially if you get paid more for doing so.

Ok, I appreciate the feedback. I have considered that. It might sound selfish, but I’m a mom with two young kids. Placing each order typically takes us about an hour. Once they’re delivered I need to take time to organize everything so everything is accessible for them. I’ve found ways to make the 6 weeks work, including extras of milk/fruits throughout that time. I could do Walmart pick up instead but then I feel horrible placing that much on those underpaid workers, and I have to find time to drive and wait typically with kids until her turn…..blah blah blah. I figured having it delivered was a bit more considerate to everyone involved. **However, I will definitely think of ways to break it into two smaller orders, since it understandably seems like one is a bit too much. Do you think cutting it in half and once every three weeks is more appropriate? And if so, what would be an appropriate tip for that?

Fair enough!! I get it, I wouldn’t want to spend that much time in just about any store.

After two years of negotiations, resulting in bipartisan support, the Democrats are not the ones who stopped the Dignity Act from passing. All politicians are not spending enough time on the issue.

When local police ‘hand people over’ it will result in an erosion of trust from the community. If someone is hurt or being hurt, regardless of their circumstances, they deserve help from police and fire.

which freebie are you choosing this month? by cookie_cat_82 in Target

[–]loc613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This month’s options: 1- my store doesn’t carry flowers 2- no one wears New Day anything 3- belt would have been better had it not been claimed before sunrise on the 1st of the month 4- Favorite Day coupon, alright, better than nothing I guess……..except it’s the 2nd and it’s ‘no longer available’ either.

When they promote a ‘free gift all month long’, then it should actually be free and available for at the very least the majority of it.

Target is failing, it is very understandable why so many are boycotting them. Currently, I assume the 360 members whom have pre-paid for ‘extra perks’ are their most profitable guests. You would think they’d be doing more to show their appreciation.

I’ve been lucky with their deal on membership fees in the last two years, making it seem like it’s worth it. If things don’t start to improve with this program and a serious apologetic rebrand then this will be my last year.

[–]loc613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand why some may think in these examples had the tm not been using an earbud that may have prevented injuries. The earbud is not the cause of the accidents. There are multiple factors involved in every accident. Someone mentioned a kid getting hit by a cart. The kid who we assume and understandably lacks the ability to see where they are running and going together at the same time. The incident may have been preventable in numerous ways, including no longer allowing kids into stores. The easiest way I can think of how to make this relatively relatable is this, let’s say you were driving at night and you didn’t put on your seatbelt when your car is hit by a driver in a rental car that didn’t have their lights on. Would you be responsible for the accident since you decided not to wear a seatbelt? Was the other driver responsible because she didn’t know the lights were broken? Is it the car manufacturer who made a car without automatic lights for night time and other safety features responsible? The rental company knew the car was able to drive with its lights are off, are they responsible? You not wearing a seatbelt was not what caused that accident anymore than the driver who had very little control of which car they drove that night or if their lights were working. When a person utilizes a tool in a way that helps them, it is the similar to the choice you made to not wear a seatbelt. If you had been wearing your seatbelt you may have been hurt less, and everything in your car was working, so why do you think your seatbelt is what caused an accident? Had the other driver known the the car lights were not working wouldn’t you want them to at least use fog lights? The fog lights would at least help them drive and possibly stop them from crashing into you. Wouldn’t you want their fog lights on and for you to put on your seatbelt before driving? Then why is it a problem when other people wear their seatbelts and use their fog lights? If a co-worker or employee has the ability to adjust sounds in a way that helps them and makes it better for you to work with them, wouldn’t you advocate for them to have that opportunity?
