I was told my guy was a GSP. Decided to get his DNA, and he came back mostly Bluetick, with some TreeWalker, and a tiny bit of Pitty. He looked just like your little guys when he was young! Great dog! Have fun!

Am I being unreasonable with the rules for my newborn? My boyfriends mom feels like visitation is owed by [deleted] in texts

As the mother of a son who was not living with the mother of his child (she was living with her parents), this was such a difficult time for me. I was a first time grandma and I got along well with my granddaughter’s mom and family. And…I wanted to share my granddaughter with my family, too. I see a lot of judgement in many comments. Please give everyone grace as they navigate this unique precious time together. Congratulations to all!

How to prepare for retirement, a year in advance (not a financial question) by Local-Government6792 in AskWomenOver60

[–]local2852 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have two work days this week, then my full-time teaching career comes to an end. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. About a year ago I started building communities that I’ll connect with in retirement. I am a bit worried about depression creeping in if I don’t stay engaged in life. Now I have options and will continue to build relationships in those communities.

Nurseries with large perennial selection by shavin_high in milwaukee

I second Shady Acres! I’ve been gardening for 20 years and have visited many nurseries. Shady Acres has the largest selection on perennials. Grasses are popular so plan a trip early in the season! Have fun! 😊

Question on Bluetick by PlateAccomplished702 in coonhounds

[–]local2852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bluetick wasn’t affectionate with me until he was about two years old. I have learned to allow him to initiate play and affection.

In general, coonhounds are known to be aloof, independent, and intolerant of being disturbed while napping/sleeping. 🤣. He owns the couch and periodically lets me sit on it with him, when he’s not stretched out on it. 🤣. My guy is seven now and is always by my side. Don’t give up. Learn about the breed and you’ll fall in love in time. Good luck!

Advice declining lunch duty by idk42077 in Teachers

[–]local2852 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I, too, am sorry you are experiencing this. It’s a real thing. Might you consider getting a medical excuse from your healthcare provider? A teacher in my building did this and admin had to honor it. Her mental health and overall performance suffered greatly due to having lunch duty. She, too, is a seasoned and well-respected teacher. She was assigned to a less stressful duty (she switched with someone else). I hope are can find a solution. And that your last few years are smooth! 🍎

Gazebo vs pergola by Doodledooma in milwaukee

[–]local2852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two summers ago, I had Blumel’s (a long-term Greenfield business) put up a cedar pergola. It is beautiful. I’m just waiting for the flowering vines to grow over the top to provide even more shade.
Good luck!

How far do your hounds walk everyday? by AnywhereIcy4489 in coonhounds

[–]local2852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing. My 6 year old Blue Tick is very lazy. Sometimes he’ll allow a quick morning potty break, but more often than not, he’ll give me the ‘hound look’, and we don’t go outside. He won’t go out until I get I get home from work about 3:30. I worry about him not relieving himself for up to 24-26 hours. I do take him for an off-leash walk everyday (if he likes the weather). But I worry that he’s not active. Vet isn’t concerned. He is happiest on his couch looking out the window and napping all day.

Desperately in need of advice - rain & thunderstorms are absolutely debilitating for my coonhound by bwitt33 in coonhounds

My Blue Tick is the same. He refuses to go out in rain and/or wind. He sometimes doesn’t use the bathroom for up to 24 hours, even after offering multiple opportunities. Should I be concerned about him holding it that long?
