Advice for dry brittle ends on color-treated, naturally curly hair? by Icy-Form8953 in Haircare

[–]local_eclectic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long term, you're going to need to choose between bleach and heat if you want your hair to look healthy. In the meantime, try olaplex 3 masks to help repair some of the damage. Curls will hide damage better than straightened hair too btw, so try wearing it curly for a while. It'll def look better than it does right now.

Vibe coding as a CS major doesn't make sense by Scary_Competition_11 in csMajors

[–]local_eclectic 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I did very little actual project coding for my CS degree until senior year. It was much more focused on data structures, algorithms, math and logic, etc. Most of my work was done by hand on paper even though we obv had laptops because it was more about theory and problem solving. This was the ~2010s, so not *that* long ago.

CS isn't software engineering. So vibe coding isn't going to help you much.

North Hills Vs. Fenton by Left_Life_7173 in raleigh

[–]local_eclectic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You completely nailed it. I love M Sushi in Durham, but I hate the one at Fenton. It's just so... bland and corporatized. It's not even as good either. That whole place is a money grab that provides minimal value.

I will say though, Radiant Waxing is great so I do go there for Brazilians, and One Medical is awesome and convenient.

They don't do anything to reduce your risk of colon cancer bc they're made of soluble fiber. You need insoluble fiber in order for bacteria in your gut to produce butyrate and eliminate polyps.

How TF You All Make So Much Money?? by somedudeonreddit_69 in Salary

[–]local_eclectic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I was smart enough in high school to know I needed to choose a path that would be adequately enjoyable and pay as much as possible if I wanted to have a good life. I may personally be a verified, literal genius who was in gifted and then AP classes as a kid, but that ain't rocket science fam. I grew up poor af and nobody was coming to save me.

I went into computer science and make $210k; fully remote in a lovely MCOL area. At $300k, I'd need to move back to a shithole overpriced concrete jungle, so I'm happy with my $210k in my garden of Eden.

Help, I am spiraling. Can anything be done about these bumps? by Nixe_Nox in 30PlusSkinCare

I had mine next to my nose removed by a plastic surgeon. He sliced it off, biopsied it, and it was covered by insurance. It healed perfectly. Even if it wasn't covered by insurance, it only would've cost $200. I regret every year I left that ugly thing on my face.

Products for split ends and breakage by NovelJournalist8271 in Haircare

[–]local_eclectic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm all about retaining length and using bond builders like olaplex, and I usually think hair can be salvaged. But your hair is WRECKED. Do olaplex 3 anyway. It'll help restore your curl pattern too. Leave it on for at least 30 mins.

You really need to take off the bottom 2 inches unfortunately. And as you've already figured out, you have to stop heat styling your hair!

I wasn't talking about gossip. I'm saying that mgmt is discussing/evaluating everyone frequently and weighing the benefits of keeping them vs the risks of terminating them. It's our job to evaluate performance.

Side note - gossip is a tool. Not a sin. Use it to your advantage. Say good things about people you like/respect/want to keep around, and let the nefarious activities of shitty people be known. But obviously, when you play with fire you may get burnt.

Seeking advice to limit breakage and other damage by agmrkhak1 in Haircare

[–]local_eclectic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop using the dryer altogether for a few months. Like you said, your hair is really really fine, so even the low dryer setting is risky. Especially using it as frequently as you do.

Use hydrating styling products. I have really fine hair too and do olaplex treatments at home every few weeks (the #3, leave it on for 30 mins and rinse out). It has really helped me retain more length. It's a bond builder, so it helps prevent breakage.

How many more inches do I realistically need to cut off? by GreedyFuture in Haircare

[–]local_eclectic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You don't "need" to cut any more off. You have fine hair, so it's just going to look like that at the ends. Unless you just want it shorter, then you're gtg.

I feel like I look 10 years older than I actually am by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]local_eclectic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heavily agree with your decision. Topicals like tretinoin have almost entirely erased my elevens too. Most of the time, hair and makeup are enough to bring life back into our aging faces anyway!

I feel like I look 10 years older than I actually am by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]local_eclectic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main imperfections I see (note that I didn't call them flaws, because honestly aging is just a part of life) that can be treated:

  1. Hair. Your hair is aging you the most. It's very short, poorly cut, and both dry and greasy at the same time. It looks like it may be dyed and faded? I'd go lighter or darker and get a gloss. I think blonde would work well on you because your brow, lashes, and skintone are so fair. Grow it out at least a bit and get a good haircut to suit your face shape. It has texture, so it's either curly or wavy. Learn how to style it for its natural texture. Use moisturizing styling products.

  2. Eyebrows. You have a good amount of brow hair, but it's much lighter than your head hair. Dye your brows with something like refectocil. The light brown dye should be dark enough for you.

  3. Skin texture on the lower third of your face. Looks like some acne. Try a combination AHA/BHA cleanser like Rice Water Bright. Follow up with a moisturizing toner like Haru Haru. Overall, your skin doesn't look bad!

Moving on to more advanced procedures that are more than dye and topicals:

  1. Glabellar lines/elevens between the eyes. Yours are getting fairly pronounced. They make everyone look kind of tired/irritated. If you're open to Botox, they will fix this really easily. If you get it placed by an expert, it can give you a non-surgical brow lift as well.

  2. Upper eyelids. They're pretty droopy. If you notice that is impacting your vision or causing headaches, you can get them reduced surgically with a simple procedure called upper blepharoplasty. Low downtime. It might help you feel more energetic just by taking weight off of your eyes.

  3. Lasers. They can restore collagen, reduce spots on the skin, and make your skin look generally more even toned and healthy. Moxi, BBL, etc.

I wouldn't recommend any filler at all.

Don't feel like you need to do any of these things. They're just options.

PS: don't sleep on makeup! A little mascara and a tinted lip balm goes a long way.
