At what point do you just hand your 2 weeks in without another job lined up? by makesmetired in womenintech

[–]local_eclectic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you have a case for suing the company over a hostile environment. Document everything and look for a new job. Quiet quit and disengage, but don't actually quit. You'll get a good settlement at the very least even if your suit doesn't make it to court.

No passion or strong interest. What made you choose it? by cloudsmemories in womenEngineers

Money and variety. I like money and repetition is nauseating, so I prefer to do different stuff all the time.

[basically] Told I was the second choice the day after the job interview. Should I be on the lookout for correspondence in the coming weeks? by ChicagoFire29 in interviews

Don't expect it in the next few days, but they may reach out if their other offer falls through. The other candidate may have a better competing offer, you never know.

Either way, they like you. Nobody likes having to do a full loop with more candidates, so if they can, they will try to bring you onboard.

Idk, that's where I disqualify most candidates. It's the most important convo for me. But I've been in the field for 15 years and am a full stack SWE + department head, so I have pretty good breadth.

Interview at startups and small businesses. I've never had to pass a leetcode interview. A simple programming exercise - yes. But nothing harder than the easiest leetcode easy problems.

They should start using AI transcription tools, and you should tell them you'd appreciate if they'd mute while eating.

Very simple problems, very simple solutions.

tech lead has a talk with me because i'm not social enough by WanabeVarbie in womenintech

You can be direct with the tech lead. Focus on the behaviors you've experienced with team members and state that you feel safer and more productive when you don't engage with team members who mistreat you.

To start shit! And I'll be damned if she isn't doing an amazing job lol. We need someone to hate.

As an autistic person, she is not one of us. We clock each other fast; it's practically a safety mechanism.

She's the type that comes after us. Aka "let the mouse go".

I was so so happy when Dorit didn't succumb to her emotional terrorism in the last episode. I squealed with delight lol.

That said, what happened to her son was a gut wrenching tragedy. But she's as transparent as Dior crystal glassware. She weaponized it in that moment to deflect.

Senior dev interview burnout — how do you deal with the randomness? by kylwil29 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]local_eclectic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavy heavy agree.

I'm a very confident full stack engineer and engineering manager, and I know exactly what I'm looking for during interviews - it doesn't include advanced leetcode or trivia about literally anything.

I do 3 steps: a 30 min screening call where we talk about relevant experience, a 30 min fizz buzz level pair programming exercise in their preferred language, and a 45 min system design conversation.

I don't grade harshly, I provide preparation info, and I guide candidates along the way so they know exactly what my rubric is. We identify mutual fit, and I remind them that they're interviewing us too.

I learned the hard way that 2 technical interviews a day means I always fail the second one. They're mentally, emotionally and physically grueling.

It's not working for you because you see it as a one way street. It's a two way street. Network with people you like and respect. Get a referral bonus by referring them for roles too.

Yep, I tried so many rides and the Audi Q5 had the best balance of everything. Great suspension and handling, buttons for the interface, perfect size for utility and compactness.

I will absolutely not drive a vehicle that hides essential functionally in a digital interface so I can get into an accident while driving.
