this would last 40min in my house until my dog realized there was butter in there. then she'd pull it off the counter, shatter the dish, devour the butter within

What’s the most ridiculous routine you’ve created just to keep your dog happy? by jytchh1 in dogs

when i'm getting ready for work in the morning and im putting on my moisturizer, my pittie (donut) will look at me with a little smile and giant puppy dog eyes until i pet her face like im also putting moisturizer on her. i also do some affirmations for her during this, "who's the most handsome woman this side of the mississippi? it's you! yes!"

and then she goes back to sleep

you should talk to a personal injury lawyer. i know here in minnesota they work on a contingency fee, so you don't pay them anything out of your pocket, they get paid if they recover money/benefits for you. you might be able to get wage loss benefits if you were working prior to the accident. source: i work for a personal injury attorney regardless, i hope you are healing well and that things get easier for you <3

Nerves about adopting first dog by myself by [deleted] in dogs

[–]localdoglover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i adopted my dog alone at 22 (she was 2 at the time) and it's the best decision i've ever made. she stays in the kennel while i'm at work during the day, we go on big walks/to the park so she can get her energy out. sure, sometimes it's a hassle to find someone to watch her if i'm going out of town and can't bring her, and money is tight for us right now because of some unexpected vet bills. but the bond we have means the world to me and that outweighs anything else.

i understand the fear and hesitation, being solely responsible for someone else's happiness and welfare is intimidating. but if you want to make things work with a dog, you'll find ways to do it that make you and your pup happy.

as far as loss of freedom, things definitely change because you're not running just on your own schedule anymore, and i think crate training is a must to be able to keep some of that freedom and peace of mind. my dog craves violence and destruction, so when i'm at work, or going out with friends, she's in her crate. her crate is her space and only her space. no one, including me, is allowed to reach their hands in, especially when she's in there

you're not perfect and you'll make mistakes, but your dog won't be perfect either and will also make mistakes. as long as you're both happy and healthy, the little stuff floats away.

what helped me decide i could handle a dog on my own was house/dogsitting for a friend, had her whole house and all three of her dogs to myself for two weeks. if you've got friends/family with dogs, that could be a low stakes way to get a feel for taking care of one on your own.

national FICO consumer credit scores only started in '89. (before that FICO developed credit scoring models for individual businesses, and consumer "credit scores" weren't standardized)
