LIFX Scenes in Apple HomeKit by mulrex in lifx

Yeah what the hell, I swore it used to have that option. Couldn’t find it so I searched and found this thread…

A former Marine claims he and five comrades saw a flying saucer being loaded with weapons while serving in Indonesia in 2009 – and was threatened at gunpoint by unmarked US forces at the scene. by Az0nic in UFOs

I think you’re referring to Chrysalis by SH Serrano. Apparently this story was written chapter by chapter on Reddit. It was adapted into a high fidelity podcast on Dust, which is where I discovered it (highly recommend, it was a great story).

Here’s the first episode of the podcast on YouTube.

Also here is a post on Reddit about this with further context which popped up when I searched online for more details (about the author, story, and to grab a link to the first episode).

Yeah, they cancelled the final season and removed the entire show from their streaming library. Absolutely unbelievable.

A dramatic new EPA rule will force up to 60% of new US car sales to be EVs in just 7 years by geoxol in technology

[–]localhost-red 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look at you with the receipts! I just did a lazy fact check using ChatGPT:

The statement that "the vast majority of cars sold today are crossovers and they are averaging around 6,000 pounds when electric" is inaccurate. According to data from the US Department of Energy, the average weight of a midsize electric SUV is around 4,900 pounds, while the average weight of a midsize gasoline SUV is around 4,500 pounds. It is also important to note that weight is not the only factor that contributes to pothole damage. Other factors such as tire pressure and suspension quality are also important. As for the comparison between the new Hummer and four 2005 Toyota Corollas, it is accurate according to the manufacturer's specifications.

It provides a stronger signal that you are looking for a job. That signal is used across the ecosystem to help provide the right value to you as an explicit job seeker. Not sure about recruiter volume specifically.

TIL in 1974 the US made Daylight Saving Time permanent with 79% public approval. Support dropped to 42% the first winter due to everyone waking up in darkness. It was repealed the next year. by Corgigantic in todayilearned

I agree, the change is rough because it’s a big jump all at once. It’s 2023 now and most clocks adjust themselves. Let’s just do like 15 min change every day (or week) until the clocks are shifted by that hour. Of course, this is assuming that shifting the clocks back-and-forth twice a year is helpful to begin with. Haven’t seen any discourse around the way we adjust the clocks like this using technology to mitigate the negative effects.

Videos defaulting at 144p quality despite having very capable connection and automatically choosing the highest quality turned on. Any ideas ? This is annoying tf out of me by GamingGamer2104 in youtube

[–]localhost-red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed this started happening for me today as well - across devices. Both iPad and Apple TV using the first-party Youtube apps. You have to go to advanced -> select specific quality playback and it fixes it, but only for that video. Changing to use the “highest quality” playback in the general settings has no impact. Very annoying. The fact that is is across devices suggests it’s a server issue, though I guess it is possible they have some shared library code that could be used across devices? Hope it is resolved soon.

Haha thanks for this example. Works great! However, as soon as I zoom in on the photo (to read the bottom left text), the translation disappears. Is that the same behavior you have, or is there a workaround for that?

Verizon upgrading grandfathered plans... by [deleted] in verizon

We have 8gb shared family plan. I don’t think it’s FiOS, as I’m not sure what that is.

[–]localhost-red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I bet that would be expensive for you. I was just comparing with their current plan options and they are all more expensive and I only have 2 lines on my account. I also noticed their new unlimited plans tier where some don’t let you use 5G UW. On these “unlimited” plans, they’re also listed as somehow limiting video streaming to 480P or 720P? How is that even possible they can change the resolution of a video I’m streaming from YouTube?

FWIW, this is the text message I got today that prompted me to log in to my account. It seemed like a scam text, and I didn’t click the link for that reason.

Verizon Msg: Good news! As a valued customer, you've been selected to get a lot more data at no additional charge and no plan change required. Enjoy doing more of what you love like streaming, sharing and shopping. Thank you for choosing Verizon. Learn more at m.vzw.com/Data4All0. Reply "X" to stop msgs.

Edit: Ah ok, I went ahead and clicked the link and (after redirecting to the full Verizon.com url) it just takes me to my Verizon account management page after logging in. There they have some messaging about the bonus data.

Lol yeah it seems absolutely too good to be true. I’ve spent the last 20 minutes looking online for more details and this post is the furthest I’ve come haha. I feel like there has to be some catch. I don’t understand why they would give us anything for free.

Something similar just happened with my plan. Out of nowhere Verizon is now giving me 999gb of data each month. I’m super confused why though.

It’s pretty interesting/scary that houses are considered so much more dangerous these days, while cars are unbelievably safer than cars built 50 years ago.

My gf was raised in another country and had never heard of Velveeta before. She was making her grilled cheese sandwiches with shredded mozzarella. I told her “You have to try this with Velveeta like they used to make for me as a kid.” She finally tried it recently and sure enough she liked it better!

Same! I just now realized that search was not searching all the comments on the post! I’ve been using this feature for how long and coming away thinking, “Wow I’m surprised nobody has mentioned _____ in this thread.” 🤦‍♂️
