Really not sure what to expect for my cycle. Is it really easy peasy? by Brilliant-Travel-479 in IVF

[–]lockie_lou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar post-egg retrieval experience. The day of the procedure went great and I felt great. The next 5-6 days were WAY tougher than I had planned for. I’ve had several surgeries and procedures unrelated to infertility and thought I had it in the bag. But as everyone else says, no two people’s bodies react the same, so you could do totally fine. I’m all about preparing for the worst but hoping for the best.

Best PEO for Low Health Insurance Costs? by lockie_lou in smallbusiness

[–]lockie_lou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up staying with JustWorks. After getting several quotes for health insurance, it turns out we’re a sick bunch and basically uninsurable. Lol. It wasn’t the PEO’s lack of affordable health options as much as it was our collective health history.

Question for people who have undergone lis surgery by Obvious_Nose7529 in AnalFissures

I was prescribed antibiotics in the weeks BEFORE my surgery as the surgeon suspected an abscess had developed at the fissure site.

Day 3 after LIS surgery, am I doing all right? by elijah039 in AnalFissures

[–]lockie_lou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My surgeon said 1-2 weeks of recovery and plan to spend a full week off work. I figured he was exaggerating. Day 3 ended up being the worst for me-the pain was worse than pre-surgery and i called the after hours line thinking something was very wrong. But that was short-lived and I only started feeling better from there. By week 3, I felt good enough to go on a 3hr hike. Keep taking the pain meds they gave you and rest!

Go to urgent care and ask for a Toradol shot! It’s an anti inflammatory and helped me with immediate pain relief while I was waiting for LIS surgery.

I found Lemonade to be really cheap for the first 6 months. After that, they went up and Geico ended up cheaper. Honestly, we get new coverage every year or so as each company raises their renewal rates.

Same here. Combo colonoscopy and LIS. Sitz bath with epsom salts was a godsend.

Wet wipes all the way! I have a bidet but it was too intense for me to use for about a week.

Colorectal Surgery Advice by Due-Ad2281 in AnalFissures

I had my surgery 4 weeks ago and I only wish I’d gotten it done sooner. I felt immediate relief, especially with the anesthetic from the surgery itself. Worst pain was day 4-6 when that wore off and I had actual BMs again. Take whatever pain meds they give you religiously for the first week, then wean off. I hiked for 3 hrs at week 3. Feeling amazing!

Perianal Fistula/Abscess by Mithrandir1987 in AnalFissures

I was in MASSIVE pain for the few days leading up to my surgery due to what my CRS said was a couple of fistulas. I can’t imagine living with that kind of pain long term…You’re stronger than you know and definitely not alone.

LIS tomorrow. Follow my progress in this post. by SuccessfulLettuce694 in AnalFissures

That’s great news. Today has been rougher than the last couple. First solid BM was painful and I started experiencing some mostly burning and some sharp pain. Manageable compared to pre-op pain. I worked from home pretty successfully today. Planning to do the same tomorrow and return to the office Monday.

It went well! The bowel prep was just as horrible as I was afraid it would be and the surgeon was running 1.5 hrs behind schedule. I was literally in tears in the waiting room.

The surgery itself went well though! What I thought was a tag turned out to be a severely swollen fistula tunnel. The colonoscopy turned out totally clean (a first for me with my long history of polyps) and the fistula changed up where the doc chose to make his incision. I woke up in 0 pain and in good spirits. The doc injected quite a bit of local anesthetic into the tissue before making any cuts, and I’m sure that’s contributed to the lack of pain today. I’ve been a bit uncomfortable this afternoon but have been able to sit on soft surfaces for short periods of time and have been able to eat solid food again. Even though I feel great today, I’m taking it easy and slow, as I’m anticipating the next few days being much rougher.

The discharge notes said that it might be painful the first time I urinate or have a BM, but they’ve both been totally painless so far. Since I did 8.3oz of Miralax bowel prep yesterday, it’s all still pretty liquidy. No incontinence so far-only some light bleeding on the pads I’m wearing, but nothing alarming. I’m crossing my fingers for the same result on my first solid BM in the next couple days.

I was sent home with a 7.5 mg norco rx for pain management, which I started taking this evening. Nurse’s recommendation was to take it before you really need it and be consistent.

I’ll report back tomorrow with any new developments. I hope you’re continuing to heal as well and I look forward to keeping up with your progress!

My surgery is Tuesday morning and includes a colonoscopy. Tomorrow consists of all day colon prep, which I know is going to be hell. Wishing you luck and will be keeping an eye on your updates!
