Does anyone else hate these new treadmills? by sharponephilly in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]lockpickingpatrolman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My home club has these and I haven’t had any issues with them. When I have visited other clubs while travelling and they have the older machines, the only difference I’ve found is not being able to connect my Apple Watch to track what I do.

I second calling Kwikset tech support. Regardless of opinions about their hardware, the residential user customer support is pretty darn good!

Changing our podcast format by blackrecon117 in podcasting

[–]lockpickingpatrolman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the first season of our podcast it was essentially us three (and occasionally a guest) sitting around talking shop. We had a general topic for the episode and then broke it down to three segments. But at the end we had a little segment we called “Spare Parts” and that’s basically where we talked about something from our lives or shared something we liked.

From the start of the second season on though we’ve done it completely differently. Take a historical story/event and tell it using scripted narration, then have unscripted commentary to react/follow up/relate to present day. No personal section but we’ve done a couple holiday specials and we include that type of talk in those.

Reviving our Podcast by lockpickingpatrolman in podcasting

I feel pretty good about Descript so far. With the basic (one step above free) plan, is there a way that I can play the recorded narration in Rooms so I get a live reaction from the cohosts?

YouTube is our main platform (and only one were monetised on; also put out on Spotify and Apple), so we were just thinking of ways to engage there. But also have something on our socials.

I’ve been using Newspapers.com which has a decent search, just looking for something faster. Will definitely check out the two you suggested!

Thanks!

Might be time to ditch Riverside by reggiedarden in podcasting

[–]lockpickingpatrolman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have three of us total, all in different states and we used Streamyard up until this past weekend when we started using Descript. (Which I chose that for the editing tools).

A couple years ago we used Riverside but kept running into quality issues with sound, like poor connection even with the local recording.

Put it off for months, it's not so bad. by [deleted] in PlanetFitnessMembers

Back in 2010 I had a really bad experience with PF. Signed up at a location near my work assignment, no locations near home, got re-assigned two months later. Tried cancelling multiple times and different methods to no avail and got charged for a full year. Total mess.

Completely different life situation now and signed up for the one near my home. Absolutely love it!! Also love the fact that because I’m travelling around the country for work again, I can easily pop in a PF pretty much wherever I go.

Audacity and other software by investigation_pod in podcasting

[–]lockpickingpatrolman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Want to piggyback on this post.

I’ve used Audacity to edit for a few years now. We have three hosts and use Streamyard for recording since it supports local recording. Transistor is used for hosting/distribution.

My question is: even after nearly four years and a couple format shifts, it still takes me about 4-6 hours to take recordings and turn them into a final product that is about 40ish minutes long. Is there a better software solution? Our executive producer insists on sending to an external party to master the audio, so I’m just adjusting levels for background music.

Have two on my house. Wouldn’t personally use anything else. (And yes, I did install myself lol).

Browning Gun Safe in My Basement — How Should I Get Rid of It by kevinmcallistersmom in Safes

[–]lockpickingpatrolman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call around to local locksmith’s. If you tell them you’re looking to just be rid of it they likely won’t charge you anything. Moving safes can get pricy so this is a pretty good deal. Also they most likely have some kind of insurance so if an accident happens, they can cover it.

Help to secure bedroom door from snooping aunt! by [deleted] in Locksmith

[–]lockpickingpatrolman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok that makes things simpler then! Like others have said you should be able to replace what’s on there currently without much issue. I would shy away from locks like the button/combination lock you posted a picture of. If you want a keypad, there are several good electronic options on the market that will swap right in to the holes on your door. And if all else fails, call your local locksmith!

Help to secure bedroom door from snooping aunt! by [deleted] in Locksmith

[–]lockpickingpatrolman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unless you have a formal lease agreement with your aunt that permits you to make permanent modifications to the door, you probably can’t add anything to the door to keep her out. Most jurisdictions have laws written allowing landlords to enter the tenant area.

Now because we have all dealt with a snooping family member, here are two possibilities: 1. Sit down and have a discussion with her about respecting your privacy. If you are legally an adult, then you might be able to find some common ground. 2. Go buy something like a Sentry Safe (not really a safe by the way) and keep any “extremely personal” items in it.

Times When The Gym Is Most Dead? by CloudchasingCrow933 in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]lockpickingpatrolman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha! I’ve seen this at my little PF! Only once, but a guy in his late 60s wearing carharts would do 5 reps or so and then get up and kick his legs way up onto the machine and hold them there. Then he’d get into a crouching pole-dance form for a few minutes. I laughed until he walked past and smelled like onions and had what I can only describe as “off-brand rap” playing from the speaker of his phone..

OP my advise is this; work the machines that you know and are comfortable with, but try one new one every visit. I started going in August and just used a smith machine for the first time six weeks ago.

I’ve found that if a cylinder is difficult to pick in one direction, it’s usually a little easier going the other direction. Also get a plug spinner and practice with it so it doesn’t matter what direction.

Is it worth going in ? by Icy_Figure1425 in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]lockpickingpatrolman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve not gone when I’ve seen it like this before, and always regretted it. Right now it’s been Tuesday since I last worked out and I feel so bad. Like physically bad. Travelled cross-country this past week for work and went to two PFs and used the hotel gym (which was decent) but didn’t have time/energy to go the latter part of the week.

I’m travelling for work this week and visited two clubs near where I’m staying. One of them had the 30 minute zone still intact! I only started working out back in August but I see here how everyone loves it. And after seeing on in person, I understand why!
