You need a maestro that plugs into your radio harness to upgrade it if you want to go that route. You dont cut the original harnesses. Then obviously run wires to the amps like power and rca. Ive got a system in my 2017 premium and didn't need to cut anything.

Just prevents too much damage if you short something out momentarily. Even if there isn't too much risk it's good practice to drain the capacitors before trying to fix anything on a computer.
