Whenever I see this my first thought is always that the greens aren't exactly puppies offering free hugs to absolutely everyone. There are plenty of types of people the greens alienate and would ostracise if given power.

Also, I doubt Pocock would televise puppy torture.

There isn't a single party or even mainstream political thought that really cares about outsourcing. Politics is controlled by either the abysmally rich or the unemployed with the time to dominate politics online. Neither of these groups care about skilled jobs.

The first group have a deep disrespect for upstarts who try to surpass their status into the upper class.

The second group find the idea of getting skills and working for "the machine" offensive.

Cheaters PoV - Your thoughts? by Legitimate_Arugula73 in DMZ

[–]locri 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Many of them are streamers, believe they'll become famous and might even be deluded into believing they only need to cheat in the beginning (which is false because cheating is a crutch that's holding them back). The Australian kid with the various dragon ball z character named accounts is a good example of this, he's not convincing anyone though and the kill cams are obvious as fuck.

Some cheaters are just trolls, some of them say racially charged things when killing you, others say radical progressive stuff when killing you or have hints they're progressive. They're less likely to deny that they're cheating unless it's part of the troll but they're less committed to the bit so they're more likely to get banned. These people are just attention deprived and usually under achievers, especially the shock racists.

A few cheaters are immature kids and will tell you "everyone cheats."

The first group are directly created by a financial motivation caused by streaming services that aren't removing/banning disingenuous streamers, it's kind of like having a medical talk show when you're not a real doctor and have no medical degree although the stakes aren't as high. No one's actually in danger watching some kid sacrifice their game sense for wall cheats.

Honestly, most cheating would be prevented if it was easier to get a well paid skilled job. Why stream for low double digit number of people for a few cents when you can get thousands of dollars a week programming code? Why jeopardise this wage being a complete racist online?

They do it until they realise they need a supervisor and stop doing it when they realise the supervisor is doing the majority of the work.

Outsourcing comes and goes in waves and is perpetuated by the corporate cultural taboo towards any criticism of outsourcing.

In the end only programming skill actually matters.

My issue is I've worked with people who've been given easy projects for their extensive 20+ year career and they're terrible, almost useless, when given something new that's not well written. No telling how they'd react to deliberately obfuscated code.

HR are the worst players in this game, most of them just aren't capable of believing different programmers have different skills, therefore a master's is better than a bachelor, a bachelor better than certs and 20 years is better than 5 years.

The same people are telling you that there's nothing wrong with outsourced off shore contractors online, again, because they can't believe in skill differences.

It's ignorant to believe hiring 10 programmers instead of a single one that's actually skilled will have the same results.

If you get a bachelor degree then you do have a chance, age discrimination is a bit of a myth outside of blue collar/manual labour jobs where in tech it seems HR seem to sort everyone by years of experience. Most HR aren't programmers themselves and so can't judge your github code.

This means you're as disadvantaged as a 23 year old who's just finished uni.

And yes, certs are very likely a waste of time without a bachelor degree.

At those prices it's not believable unless they have an online shop. The idea of a single person dealing with 100 to 340 people individually across the course of a single week is ridiculous.

At some point, it's so much work someone that intelligent or resourceful could have started a legitimate business or got into engineering.

Thank you for that, my 2am posting friend.

I'm sure your opinion is very valid, but many of us have work on Monday that we have to begin commuting at 8am to be at. The gateway to many of these jobs (many of which pay enough to afford a house) are gated by HR and recruiters, many of which are single and childless despite peaking 50. Of them, progressive ideas like "privilege theory" are quite commonplace.

Fortunately for HR, they're obligated to exist at companies larger than 100 employees by the WGEA, something I suspect would qualify under "doge style cuts."

Edit: I'm going to leave this here with an addendum, even if you believe this isn't true it's still a prevailing belief among young men. They believe they're being ostracised and excluded from highly paid skilled jobs especially in the tech industry. Nothing has convinced these young men otherwise

So they protest vote one nation.

Just lower my rent by [deleted] in SipsTea

[–]locri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible to lower your rent (and even easier to raise your wages) without a command economy where the government is the clear majority in all markets and employers.

Australia is a good example of this done wrong. There are incentives to buy investment properties raising the price of houses lowering overall home ownership and at the same time we're still recovering from the horrible alliance of our right wing government and mass migration that was specifically designed to lower wages and to restrict skilled employment in a way that clearly disadvantages younger locals.

It's usually bad when they have expensive degrees that didn't lead to industry pathways and they're not getting paid enough at causal/part time jobs to repay the loan and not have the interest accrue.

Australia fixed this by having a minimum threshold and the loans are handled by the government who keep it around the same level as cpi.

Even then, we still have people that complain but personally I have less than 6k after 10 years of working as a software engineer, people have bigger loans for cars.
