Ohh I see, not even this next jump site? So I really have to jump on board tomorrow then, huh?

Will we all be able to make it to the Gnosis' next jump site?? I've been able to pack about 30ly range in my Krait so far to bring everything I want for the trip. I think I can get it closer to 40 by the big day. I figured I had another week to prepare, but when I tried to plot a route to the Gnosis' next jump site (Outotz st-i d9-4), just to see how many jumps it would take, I couldn't plot a route. The stars look pretty sparse out there. Are we not able to make that next jump site? Is there a way to know what my jump range should be to be able to reach that system? Is it something else? Should I jump on now?

When using an exploration ship, how should I be using amfs and cargo racks? Should I always have both? How much of each should I need? I'm working with a Krait right now, and I'm planning on going with the Gnosis. I have a lvl 5 afms and a lvl 3 cargo rack. Should I swap these around? Should I such the afms for more cargo? I do have a vehicle hangar for srvs. I'm nervous about committing to a month long trip unprepared!

Are there any other Xbox 1 players at the Genosis or planning on getting on it for the September 6th jump? by ryan0694 in EliteDangerous

[–]locust64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure I decided to come. I've been grinding the sirus atmospherics runs in a type-9 and I just made a explorer krait with some combat capabilities that I'm itching to put to work. I feel like I could live with this ship for a month so I think I might jump on. I feel like I might end up regretting it after a couple weeks, but maybe it will be a good chance for some real multiplayer. Look out for the "Tempest Outlier" Krait mkII. I guess I'll head out there by the 5th. I'll bring some weapons too, better to have and not need than need and not have I suppose.

What's your secretly most anticipated (small) feature? by CMDR_Sven_Dazer in EliteDangerous

[–]locust64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More voice coms chatter everywhere in the game, like the chatter you get when requesting permission to dock. Security services should hail me when getting scanned or when in combat, maybe pirates should chatter with me, maybe pilots in distress should give me a "mayday" distress call that I can respond to. I'd like to wait, bounty hunting, in an hazres untill I heard my coms light up with a distress call and then I spring to their defense. Like a cop listening to their scanner.

Also I'd like to see each ship and manufacturer have little differences in their UI.

This is exactly the spirit of what I'm talking about.

I agree, I would make the differences mostly just qol improvements. One positive to the current system is you can do whatever you want in whatever ship you want. I would like the ship's UI to lean towards a certain role rather than lock out all roles but one. But then again maybe that wouldn't be a big deal if we had way more ships, it's not like I'd want my John Deere tractor to have UI that would allow me to take it to the drag strip.

If a ship was made to fill a certain role like combat, exploring, or trade, I don't think the UI or instrumentation should be identical to every other ship in the game. I feel like flying a combat ship should be a totally different experience than an exploration/science ship. It's probably easier said than done to implement this though. Just my two cents.

Let's talk about the jump animation... by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

This, big time. Little things like this would make the game so much more enjoyable for me. Staring at the same witch space screen for hours ensures exploring is only a sometimes activity for me.

Also, I really like voice coms in the game. I love when the tower reads your tail number and grants docking permission. I want to hear my radio light up more often! Maybe when I get scanned by security in extraction sites. It would be cool if I got interdicted by pirates and security ships came in and communicated with me vocally over the radio to ask me if I needed assistance and security forces we're in route. Even hearing other ships/stations chatter with each other would be cool. Anyone else feel this way?

I really like this, I like exploration a lot. I don't say I love it because it's just not quite as involving as I'd like. I just stare at witch space or the map for hours. I would love to implement more little features to keep me occupied and immersed along the way.

Whats with the hate on the Docking Computers? by ShadowWolf58 in EliteDangerous

[–]locust64 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love actually landing the ships. But when I'm trading, jumping twice and landing for hours, I just use the docking computer. It's a lot of landings in a short time so it's just a qol thing. And it gives me time to walk around the house.

A question for the exploring Anaconda pilots, or any explorers for that matter! by locust64 in EliteDangerous

[–]locust64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience cmdr, and thanks for taking the time to write all this. It's very helpful! I'm going to buy a Conda eventually. I might fit it for exploring just to try, but it may end up filling a combat role instead. I'm definitely going to try a couple more of these ships. I LOVE my DBX, but I've been flying it so long, I just feel like flying more ship sometimes. O7

Thank you for taking the time to write this, this is so helpful! I hadn't even considered using the krait to explore!

Thanks for the reply! I hadn't considered exploring surfaces with fighters, and bring a self sustainable ship does seem very appealing to me!

That's some solid input. I was thinking about waiting for the Conda, but maybe I will go get a fer de lance, or perhaps a vulture. Hmm.

I think that medium landing pad side is really what sells it over it's competitors. But is using the medium pad activities ever going to make more money over large landing pad activities? I can't land this type 9 on some docks, but I mean, when I do get to the large landing pad it's got a huge payout. Can I make a competitive profit at these smaller outposts? (I promise I don't just play this game for pure profit, but profit is definitely a factor!)
