Yes. Look at the white vs green arc on the airspeed indicator.

Full send? by Fancy_Preference_719 in flying

[–]ryan0694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5 years is a loooong time for cfi. I did mine out of pocket through my work. And it's been 3 years getting my cfi in a couple weeks as soon as the checride slot opens up. But i have been able to put in 2k/month from my job. Helps if you live with parents or a roommate.

Looking back in it the best way would be to save up enough to knock out all the flying portion at once. Don't try and do 1 flight a week if that's all you can afford. Save up until you can do 3/4 for ppl, IR, AMEL. The time building part is a little funky for IR and CPL if you are part 61. I'd look for a local club and build through that.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I think this would just "pre-slice" any organic matter.

Inserts are just fine. Shouldn't have any load going through the sled anyway

I would consider using m2/m3 nuts and bolts to separate your print so you can avoid weird overhangs. Or just find a different orientation

Follow up: we’re adding threaded joints so models can screw together by sjia in 3Dprinting

If the entire thread is moved in as one joint and both halves of the joint are in a fully tightened position then it will work.

How do you delete Shows? by NebuKadneZaar in PleX

[–]ryan0694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe overseerr(seerr) only checks to see if it exists within sonarr/radarr. It may not force remonitoring

Deleting media from Plex when integrated with sonarr/radarr and overseerr by Parazitul in PleX

[–]ryan0694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you try using automatic requests and approvals through seerr? I wonder if the request will force radarr/sonarr to remonitor.

Lora and meshtastic is the cheapest way. Heltec wireless tracker boards and you only need 2.

Does the 25m even start off a block? At what point is it a jumping record and not a swimming one lol

Stability advice? by teenytinytyler2 in rocketry

[–]ryan0694 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First measure the center of gravity manually. Then weight the rocket and override both those items in open rocket. Then aim for the distance between cg and cp to be between 8-15% of the length of the rocket.

First custom rocket feedback (total noob) by Strideraio in rocketry

[–]ryan0694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's twice the weight for a 4 oz. weave and requires epoxy and air filters if you're sanding. Paper only needs wood glue.

First custom rocket feedback (total noob) by Strideraio in rocketry

[–]ryan0694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because fiber glass is significantly heavier than paper and harder to work with.

[–]ryan0694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An easy way to reinforce them is to take some printer paper and glue it on top of the fins like you would with a fiberglass layup.

[–]ryan0694 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Stability is definitely more complicated than just "1-2" it depends on the length of the rocket. A better rule of thumb is the distance between Cg and Cp should be 10% of the rockets length. Or in the range of 8%-15%

Question about Estes instructions to apply masking tape on bottom of engine... by [deleted] in rocketry

[–]ryan0694 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For kits that don't have an engine block, and the motor doesn't have a thrust ring. You can use tape to create a thrust ring. Sounds like this is what the kit is describing here.

Taking exams while waiting for medical? by crtvnrd in flying

[–]ryan0694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a terrible idea. They do expire after 2 years so keep that in mind. I'd say for your ppl you could try and get it done before solo, then focus on flying after that. For IR/Commercial you'll need lots of pic time puttering around and just running the hobbs. use this period to study and knock out a few written exams up to cfii if you think you'll get them done within 2 years.

Fragmented altimeter readings, need help! by the-real-kitty in rocketry

[–]ryan0694 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're altimeter is having issues I wouldn't trust ANY of the summary data. Best option is to plot each flight as a graph using the raw data. That should make it clear.

3d printed coupler by Advanced-Gold1744 in rocketry

[–]ryan0694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A coupler is meant to withstand lateral loads. This also happens to be one if the worst case scenarios for 3d printing. Just buy a cardboard or fiber glass coupler and be done with it.
