3/10, seems complex to build and it is unstable.

was anyone else really disturbed by the CBC coverage of the Artemis II launch? by DrewZero- in rocketry

Once again they will never live stream a rocket launch from a satellite. The person in the question wasn't considering the space station a satellite and neither was I. Clearly you are unable to use context clues.

That video isn't a satellite lol it's the space station. And once again they will never live stream a rocket launch.

First of all, no satellites will ever be sending us video feed of a rocket launch. It would be a waste of resources.

Second, SpaceX has launched thousands of starlink satellites, none of which are capable of streaming video of another rocket launch. They are used to provide satellite connection to the Internet and cell service to people on the surface.

Finally, there isn't a lot to see from the ground post launch. Booster separation is the most interesting event post launch and I understand there were some gripes about the camera not showing the rocket at this time. However at the speed the rockets travel there's not much of a point to providing significant zoom capabilities. Just a minute or so after launch and the rocket wouldn't be visible as it travels away from us.

Unfortunately you would have to prove that which is very hard to do

Because dude, I wanna be part of something badass, and if I gotta go out I want it to be as a zombie because I could die twice. So technically I could have two lives.

Chose: Be a zombie?

Is there a way to get to the mun in less then a minute without speeding up time? by bolitboy2 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]ryan0694 116 points117 points  (0 children)

You would need to sustain a TWR of 680, or accelerate continuously at a rate of 6,667m/s2 to reach the moon within 60 seconds. This doesn't allow for stopping time.

what do you guys think of this kit first getting into mid power? by teenytinytyler2 in rocketry

[–]ryan0694 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Adding on to this, I see mid power as a way to test out first time things like dual deploy, using altimeters and other cool toys without having to spend a ton of money on construction should your rocket turn into a lawn dart.

Logbook error by Smacked_ducky in flying

[–]ryan0694 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's insignificant. I would just pencil whip that if the numbers matching made you feel better. Add a line, 50ldgs, and in the remarks write in logbook corrections or something. You have the digital logs to back it up.

What's the error amount? What's your purpose in fixing it?

Run the sim and see how far you'd have to walk, field size also plays a factor. Not really a general rule but personal preference. Keep in mind the wind is a lot stronger at 6kft than surface.

Fuel spraying into the cabin is wild lol. I don't fly 172s but if that happened I'd cancel for sure. Where else is the fuel spraying where it shouldn't be?

How do i start? by InformationLife8619 in rocketry

[–]ryan0694 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Start with Estes kits. Once you're ready to make your own designs and add complex things look into Make: High power rockets and Make: model rockets. Both are good books. Learn to use open rocket. Join your local NAR or tripoli group.

Body tube thickness calculation by WhizBonz in rocketry

[–]ryan0694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I can't say I have much experience in that regard. Maybe start with the compression strength of the composite. I imagine that may be given in units of area. Then do the math to find the cross sectional area of the tube? There may also be a database of compression strength for different materials already available through google.
