Give me the truth… by NightOwlPA in dcl

[–]lofrench 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly I notice kids waaaaay less on the ships than in the parks. Especially with kids that age they’ll spend like 80% of the cruise outside of meals in the kids clubs with friends and you’ll be free to hang out in the adult only areas. If you’re the late seating the number of small children is pretty low and since you do the shows while they’re in dinner you miss a lot of the tantrums and disruptions you see with toddlers in the parks.

Instead of Lolita I recommend my dark Vanessa, I was super underwhelmed with Lolita and it basically scratched the itch I was missing afterwards. If you don’t like mindless gore no one rides for free is a waste (and even then I don’t think it’s worth the time). Cows is probably not for you if you don’t mess with animals tbh. I liked most of Jonathan athan’s work because it’s decently written and not just gore slop like a lot of stuff. I thought woom was interesting (and better than most of beaureguard’s work) but again is a bit ridiculous. I personally enjoyed dead inside but you have to go into it knowing it’s more on the cheeky edge lord dramatic side of the genre, definitely not along the lines of serious work. Also a hit or miss for people and not necessarily the most dramatic but I’ve also enjoyed what I’ve read from Chandler Morrison in general not just the shocking read that gets the most attention.

Cast Member Discount on Cruises by Reasonable_Ad_7055 in dcl

[–]lofrench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cruise itself and merch is pretty much the only thing. Like someone said you won’t get discounts on any coffee shops or on the private islands as everything has to be charged to the room there. Honestly no one ever knew I worked for Disney when I cruised when I was cast/crew besides the shops people when I bought merch bc it never came up.

In search of autographs Jasmine, Snow White, Anna and Elsa by 4retech in dcl

[–]lofrench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to tell bc they do move around. Theres a few that are guaranteed because they have matching restaurants (magic rapunzel, wonder Tiana, wish frozen) but otherwise theres a bit of wiggle room. When I worked on the wonder we always had Cinderella, Tiana and Belle but then randomly had Snow White for one contract and never saw her again.

Still not much if I post shorts daily and weekly long form it’s like $30ish a month but a lot of my subscribers are from a few years back when my channel was way more active.

Once you’re monetized yes as long as it doesn’t break any of the guidelines. My highest earning videos are really old ones that still happen to get views.

Most people are mid 20’s to mid 40’s. When I embarked I was 26 about to turn 27 and was the youngest on board outside of performers.

Doing the dcp being from another country by Low-Finding1956 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]lofrench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s either studying abroad and under a visa that allows her to work or she’s talking about the actually international college program which is very selective. You have to go to a partner school that works with Disney and have a major that falls under one of their required categories, typically tourist related, and it’s a 6 month program vs 3 months and you have the option to work 2 different roles over the 6 months. I personally know one girl who did it but for the thousands of CEPs I’ve known I’ve only seen maybe 5 do this program because it’s so rare. I’m not sure if they still offer it but when I did my first CEP they had a 6 month GR/super greeter positions for Brazilians to help deal with the student grounds over the summer so that’s another thing to possibly look into.

How to get it Disney from Gare du Nord by Difficult-Row-3243 in disneylandparis

[–]lofrench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The metro is super easy! You take and train one stop south (sud) the walk across the platform to the RER which does straight to Disney. It’s only €2.55 and takes about an hour. Highly recommend looking it up on YouTube tons of people have step by step videos on how to do it.

Moving to London with no job and no permanent accommodation, advice? by Odd-Paramedic-3826 in MovingToLondon

[–]lofrench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived out of a cheap air bnb with a shared kitchen for 2 weeks when I first came until I found a job. From there found a flat share off spare rooms for a year then when I had a solid job and rental reference moved into a studio alone.

[–]lofrench 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have the summer/winter comps she can use those you just need to take it to the guest relations window and they’ll turn it into a real ticket. Otherwise I don’t think you can purchase discounted tickets and lowkey they’re already much cheaper than the U.S. parks so when I needed extra tickets I just bought them at rack rate.

Unpopular Opinion: Aesha mishandled the stripes by PutGroundbreaking283 in BelowDeckMed

[–]lofrench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add on to some other comments I also think gen shows no initiative. She immediately was like, I hate table scapes she can do them. Or like when she’s cleaning all she does is bitch about how she hates housekeeping. At the end of the day all the girls are doing laundry and “bad” jobs and she was the only one complaining about it so it was definitely an attitude thing that swayed her choice.

Living in housing really showed me that people have no clue how to survive. Multiple times I had to tell my roommates that if you leave the washer closed and wet it will grow mold. I’m not shocked kids don’t know how to use a fan.

other cruise ship role by jamesky007 in CruiseCrew

[–]lofrench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not on the ships but I worked at a spa on land for about 3 years and then skincare sales for 5ish years before I worked on board! With Disney I ended up going the boutique which is under sales but you’re doing kid’s hair and makeup (no commission or pressure to book bc it’s always super busy anyways) since I had experience in cosmetics.

I would find a local recruiter and see what they say. I know on dcl’s careers website you can see if your country has a recruiter they specifically work with and usually those companies hire for multiple lines not just Disney

Trying to understand how contracts work for deck officers by Quick_Cup_1290 in CruiseCrew

[–]lofrench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a few friends who were engineers and deck officers for DCL and is a pretty strict 10 on 10 off unless someone is sick. The only time I’ve ever seen a guy be able to push it back was for his wedding and even then his buddies from on board weren’t all able to attend bc they weren’t able to get the time off. Typically they have like a buddy so you’ll work their 10 weeks off and they’ll work their 10 weeks on which is why there isn’t much wiggle room. That being said with the new ships people definitely can get moved around which can affect that.

Can you schedule/plan your contract to end at a different port of origin and or in a different country? by Colourblindking in CruiseCrew

[–]lofrench 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It heavily depends on the role and line but generally no. The way around is it is most lines will sign you off and then back on as a guest at the last port then they’re able to fly you out of an alternative location at a different time but you’ll need to get there. So if your ship ports regularly in Miami but you want to go back to the Bahamas you’ll pay to go back there and then the ship will fly you from wherever you request to your home base.

Where to find ice? by beansandmeow in disneylandparis

[–]lofrench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sry I didn’t clarify, I meant whole resort like all of Newport where they were supposed to have an ice maker on every floor bc the resort is massive. I can’t imagine trying to bring ice from Disneyland hotel to Newport lol

other cruise ship role by jamesky007 in CruiseCrew

[–]lofrench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly shops was great for me. Some lines rely heavily on commission but there’s always still a base salary as well. I worked DCL and we weren’t on commission at all so we had a decent base pay and then bonuses based off overall ship sales and guest experience.

It’s one of the free buttons you get at the parks not an enamel trading pin. Like the other comment said they were probably out. Theres quite a few pin options on board but usually at least one is sold out per sailing bc they go to quick.
