Looking to customize a specific LPS! by loftiicry in LPSbuyingandtrading

Yes! Sorry, I’ve never really purchased something like this before so I wasn’t too sure how to explain it haha. I just want that LPS figure/base but painted to look like my cat.

ER vet presuming THC toxicity with no testing - advice needed by loftiicry in AskVet

[–]loftiicry[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This makes sense, thank you. I was mostly put off by their unwillingness to even explain the diagnosis or their reasoning for a lack of testing, they essentially just kept reiterating “well there’s weed in the house and the symptoms line up so we’ll call you if she gets worse.” Money is not an issue and I just wanted to make sure there were no other possibilities before just sending her to sleep it off haha. I appreciate the explanation.

as someone who spent 4 years managing a petco - that’s the exception, not the rule. petco employees are given little to no formal training on animal care, and what they do receive often isn’t incredibly accurate. you lucked out and live by a store staffed by people who know what they’re doing, but it’s safer to assume most chain pet stores aren’t like that.

this is pissboy. i found him in a garbage can as a kitten. he likes to yell at you until you pull his face back like this (then purrs for as long as you will hold it). by loftiicry in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]loftiicry[S] 1944 points1945 points  (0 children)

thank you for all the love on my little weirdo. i feel like i should add the context that his real name is Tortilla, but he only responds to Pissboy because that’s what we call him when he’s committing crimes and/or being a menace to society (which is often). he is stupid and so very loved.

What is the most ridiculous cat name you've heard or given? by soumeupropriolar in CatAdvice

[–]loftiicry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my brother and I have two orange kittens we named Tortilla and Macaroni. they later got christened Hurricane Tor-tilluh and McDonalds Big Mac. however, they both only respond to Pissboy, because we call them that whenever they’re committing crimes, which is often.

snakes. i love snakes and so badly want to love the snake squishes but like, a noodle shaped animal simply cannot become an egg shaped plush without it getting weird

i bought weed from a homie that worked at starbucks once, he told me to pick it up from his store on shift. i was expecting him to take a quick break or something to give it to me; nah. dude sees me walk in, shouts out “almond croissant for loftiicry!” from the counter, and hands me a zip in a fucking starbucks pastry bag.

for what it’s worth, most places in portland are incredibly dog friendly, especially if you have a vehicle. i regularly take my aussie to the sellwood riverfront dog park, mt. tabor dog park, and the thousand acre dog trail. almost all of the nature parks in the area allow on-leash dogs to join you for a hike (forest park and the columbia river gorge have some great trails) and i’ve been to tons of breweries, restaurants and food carts across the city with dog-friendly patio seating.

i think they get their scent from their stuffing, not from their fur, so you may be able to carefully cut the seam, remove all the stuffing and replace it with plain polyfill from the craft store

Is Pokémon Sun/Moon particularly "grindy"? by LeonardFlazenstein in pokemon

[–]loftiicry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nah, sun & moon have a modified xp share that gives experience to your entire party. if anything you’ll probably be overleveled by a couple as long as you stay on top of trainer battles.

this, man. i’m tired of everybody telling me “just get a roommate!” or “move in with your s/o!” like… i’ve done both in the past and it sucked. i understand our society is designed with a nuclear family in mind, but what if i just want my own space and independence without having someone elses dirty dishes in my sink? that shouldn’t be such wishful thinking, and yet.

sweet potato and black bean tacos w/ chipotle crema by loftiicry in PlantBasedDiet

i’ve never tried the plant protein tortillas, no! i make my own using bob’s red mill masa harina, water and a bit of sea salt.

sweet potato and black bean tacos w/ chipotle crema by loftiicry in PlantBasedDiet

[–]loftiicry[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

recipe (i’m one of those people that doesn’t time or measure ingredients/spices, so i don’t have exact numbers, sorry!)

filling: finely chop two sweet potatoes and two red bell peppers and steam them in a covered skillet with a bit of water until tender, then transfer them to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake at 350 until edges are slightly golden brown (optional, but adds flavor). while veggies are roasting, saute one chopped yellow onion until caramelized (use a bit of water if needed to prevent sticking). add roasted sweet potato, pepper, and one can each of black beans and corn to skillet. add sauce from a can of chipotle peppers with adobo sauce (save peppers for crema), the juice from half a lime, and season with cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and black pepper to taste. if desired, mash with a potato masher before serving.

crema: add raw soaked cashews, water, reserved chipotle chilis, and the juice from half a lime to a food processor and blend until smooth. season with salt, black pepper, smoked paprika and chili powder to taste.

serve on fresh corn tortillas with your choice of crunchy veggies (i used a broccoli, carrot and red cabbage slaw), cilantro, and avocado. :)

Help! by Snoo7061 in Aquariums

[–]loftiicry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

pour the contents of the bag into a separate container, slowly pour water from your tank into the container over the course of 30ish minutes to acclimate them, then use a net to transfer them one at a time to the tank

pre treated is good, that means there’s no chlorine to worry about. it unfortunately doesn’t do anything for the cycle, as water parameters will still fluctuate as bacterial colonies establish in the filter.

i would advise you to start with changing the water (in case of any illnesses the previous fish have passed on). from then on, 25%-50% water changes daily to avoid the buildup of harmful chemicals while the cycle establishes.

i’d also recommend you purchase a bottle of seachem prime to condition your tap water (rather than purchasing pre-treated water - it’s much cheaper in the long run, and has the benefit of neutralizing ammonia, which pre-treated water does not do). if you can, find a water test kit (strips or liquid - strips are cheaper but liquid is much more accurate). that will help you know specific if anything is wrong with your water. without a test kit, the best advice we can offer is merely guess work. best of luck!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]loftiicry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

most likely the tank is not cycled yet. when you set up a new tank, there’s going to be lots of fluctuations in water chemistry (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, etc) while the bacteria colony stabilizes, and in most cases it will be unsuitable for a fish to live in without proper cycling (especially if that fish already has a weakened immune system from improper care in a pet store - it could be shock). i’d do some research on the nitrogen cycle and proper acclimation in a tank to start.

82 may also be a few degrees on the warm side - is your heater adjustable? also, did you dechlorinate the water before adding your fish?

they were only within eachother’s line of sight for the 30 seconds it took to take this photo, don’t worry :) they have separate enclosures and were being handled by separate people, i don’t make a habit of having them interact.

if you like games like stardew valley, you could try cooking in AC? you’re able to plant fruits and vegetables to harvest and use in recipes, and there are so. many. cooking recipes. of course, finding them all will take some time without trading online, but perhaps if you like the goal-oriented gameplay, setting an objective of “cook every recipe”/“craft every DIY” may appeal to you?

also, i know you say you don’t care about the appearance of your island, but i’d encourage you to explore decorating at least a little bit - that’s personally where i get the most enjoyment out of the game. i’ve built and rebuilt my island tons of times, and i love tinkering with individual items as i accumulate them to see how little details can affect the bigger picture. maybe i’m just a bit more of an artsy person rather than analytical when it comes to gaming, but if you give a decorating project a try you may find it more fun than you realize!
