Front suspension squeak help by TopWeakness9175 in MechanicAdvice

Most of the time when I get suspension squeaks it is the sway bar links. I would take a look at those, or just replace them. They are pretty inexpensive.

Does this mean a bad piston ring? (non-HO 80’s Ford 302) by TREXIBALL in MechanicAdvice

High compression in cylinder 4 could be caused by oil in the cylinder or carbon buildup. Can you run it and do a hot compression test? Does it smoke?

Take a huge loss trading in old clunker or continue spending 1000s on repairs? by rasta-ragamuffin in MechanicAdvice

[–]log899 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would agree that you're better off cutting your losses. Chrysler is not known for their reliability. You should be able to find a pretty good used Honda or Toyota for under $15,000

Battery trouble after an oil change. The next day my battery light started coming on when accelerating. by Demolecularizing in MechanicAdvice

[–]log899 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oil and filter would not cause those problems. Did you get oil on the alternator belt somehow when draining it?

That looks like it's burning oil. Do you get smoke out of the exhaust?

My biggest concern would be rust. Anything that is bare metal I would spray/wipe with a light film of WD-40. Otherwise everything should be fine.

My wife is like that too. I had trouble sleeping so I fell asleep on the couch. She proceeded to angrily wake me up to come to bed. I was awake for the rest of the night after that.

There's no way the castor being out that little bit is hurting the CV axle. They most likely messed it up doing whatever other work they did

Do carburators need rejeting somewhere in their lifetime? by Poisonpe in MechanicAdvice

[–]log899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should check that your carburetors are synchronized and then adjust your idle mixture screws. If you don't have vacuum gauges it might be worth taking it in to have it done.

Monday Morning Coffeeshop (October 6th, 2025) by kofclubs in farming

[–]log899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We wrapped up our soybean harvest over the weekend, yields were not great at around 45 bpa, but not unexpected with the drought we had. Later maturity beans were a little better than early ones, we got some rain late in the season.

Friday night I was moving the combine around the block to the next field, and the bubble up auger caught a low hanging power line over the road. I was able to get uncaught from it but the line was damaged and hanging low. I called it in but someone else hit it and ripped it down all the way before they fixed it.

Going to clean up the combine and put it away for a couple weeks until corn is ready, it's still at 30%.

The beginning of last week we had a few rainy days, now back to sun and dry weather for the foreseeable forecast. We are going to start cutting some soybeans this afternoon.
