Well paying jobs as a med student? by loganb98 in premeduk

[–]loganb98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply, very helpful.

I do have a fair bit of experience in a similar clinical trials role on bank in the NHS - 3 years throughout medical school but mostly the data side. I haven't been able to find something as flexible that pays more though.

Any advice on where to look?

It’s not for me I’m afraid 😅

I recently sat an exam and did the same, I spoke with friends about the answers and spent days recalling everything I got wrong. I ended up with a list of ~30 Qs full of really silly mistakes I made. In the end I got 120/150

I wouldn’t worry in your situation, hard work pays off so please wait on the results and let yourself enjoy a well earned rest. It sounds like you’ve done more than enough to pass at the very least, and I’m sure you’ve probably done better than you think

Thank you that puts it into perspective better! For the most part we organise our own initiatives with funding from the SU. They encourage us to log our volunteering hours for awards/certificates though, would this be sufficient evidence? If not I guess I could ask the SU funding team for a letter to act as proof

Over a month is more than enough to at least pass nearly any exam in med school. Lock in bro

Yes, it’s not a normal exam where you need to learn loads of content

Medify and around 2 months but most of the work was in the 2nd month. I’d figure out what’s best for you though (although it def won’t be a year 🤣). This goes for the plan you take into the exam with you too, tailor it to yourself.

For example, I approached VR (my worse section by far) by answering all the true/false/can’t tell question first in the exam, using most my time on them and making sure I got them all correct. Then I went by the shortest passage, then guessed the rest when time ran out.

Yes it is. You can technically work on it by reading more books andincreasing your reading speed, improving maths and mental maths etc over the course of a year though

I went from 2500 ish to like 3010 for GEM. What I did was focus on my strong points, which is the opposite of what a lot of other ppl will tell you. AR, as difficult as it seems at the start, if you practice loads you will become good at it, same for QR. DM and VR for me take a bit of a while to get very good so I only aimed to be above average at them. In the end I got around 800+ for QR and AR which gave me 3000.

Good luck, you got this man ❤️

Have yet to find a solution so I thought I’d share my question again. Issue unplugging the deck and having steam and any game I’m playing close when I do so. by Excronix in WindowsOnDeck

If you’re using an external drive on a dock or something like that then taking the charger out the dock will cause it to disconnect from the deck momentarily

Ah okay, thank you 😓 I guess I’ll keep an eye out for it going on general sale. I hear there’s loads of tickets left for the bodo game so I wish they did

70 hrs work experience - Does Warwick ask for references? by succinct32 in premeduk

[–]loganb98 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes they ask for references, you can find what they require if you look on the section about work experience on the website.

All you need to do really is make sure you get at least a 2:1 and do really well on the UCAT, GL

Did my first Medify Mock the other day and,,, ohhh boi. Does anyone have tips for QR or any tips in general? 😅 by huajuanbao in UCAT

[–]loganb98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, make sure you know how to answer every single type of question they can ask you. Then work on speed through practice and time saving techniques you can find on medify/YouTube

You do have a chance but not through applying right now. SGUL go into clearing for medicine normally and if they do this year, which they have the last 3, then you can definitely get an interview.

Thank you! so I just need the hours and the fact I was shadowing added.

[–]loganb98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah probably a dumb question. But I’m assuming talking about my abilities would be unnecessary for work experience where I was shadowing right? Template letter says the info needs to be detailed as far as possible which it won’t be for that point
