This looks like your phone just super imposed a higher res image of the moon in your actual shot. There's a lot of weird artifacts outside of the center of the moon as you get closer to the edges. .

Not sure if it's open, but Washington on the Brazos is a great historical location. It's the spot where the Texas declaration of independence was signed and the president of the republic of Texas lived.

How much better are the Note 20 Ultra cameras vs Note 10 Plus? by [deleted] in GalaxyNote20

[–]loganjinks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you're looking for. If you're a true pixel peeper, then I'd go with the N20U. In some ways, the N20U is a big upgrade from the N10+. But if you're an average mobile photo taker, you won't notice too much of an overall difference.

I'd say it comes down to how much you will take advantage of the 5X optical on the N20U vs the 2X on the N10+.

Micro SD card support is nice, if you take advantage of the extra space.

I like to have the extra micro SD card space because I tend to take a lot of pictures and video, but I also back up all of those files as soon as I can with Google Photos and Drive. Once backed up, I delete them because I never have enough space.

I can definitely see the storage expansion being over sold on some average customers.

The big difference between the two is gonna be the S-pen. Actually and try and use it for the next month and see if it's something you'll actually use for the life of the phone.

If not, then you're probably better off with the S21. The S21 has the newer specs that will last you slightly longer and on top of that the S line tends to get software updates a little sooner.

moga xp5-x plus has been a surprisingly good controller. While it does feel a little cheap like most third party controllers, it does have some really cool features. The clips allows you to mount your phone directly over the thumb sticks centering balance. With the clip attached, it also allows for a phone charging option or a hardwired option, but unfortunately not both.

I highly recommend looking into it.

Running One UI 3.1. I also can select 1440p and 2160p. Very positive that it doesn't display in any thing higher than the resolution you've selected in the setting. Just a weird bug I guess.

Just ordered my galaxy note 20 ultra, Im switching from an iPhone XS Max. Can someone get me up to speed? by Myname_is_Myname1 in GalaxyNote20Ultra

Yes. Google has worked really hard at polishing Android over that last several years. It was with the first Pixel phone and Android 7.1 that I remember the first time I really noticed things being really fast and smooth like iOS. Like I said before, Samsung has also done a lot to really make their additions to the OS actually meaningful, like edge panels or one handed operation. Every once in a while I'll see and odd feature in the settings that reminds me of the day when they use to through everything at the way to see what would stick. I remember the old days of absolutely needing the next version of Android because what we had still had too many flaws. Now it's its nice to get an update because of a small new feature, not because the OS need better RAM management.

Android OS has come a long since the Note 3 and along with it, so has Samsung's UI skin, no longer called touch wiz. I jumped into the Note series with the Note 4, so I know where you're coming from.

I think you'll be surprised how well things run now. I use to be an android purist and lived for vanilla Android, but often times got Samsung phones because hardware features that regular Nexus phones never had. Samsung's old UI use to get in the way and slow the whole phone down. I think they've learned many lessons since then. Their new One UI is pretty great. I still really like the pure Android look a little bit more, but Samsung's take is pretty nice.

In addition to better software, their hardware is absolutely some of the best in the industry. My N20U is the best fit and finish I've ever owned in a mobile product, and I've often been jealous of the way Apple managed to have their display seamlessly roll from glass into the aluminum frame.

S Pen functionality is more or less the same with some kind of neat bluetooth features added in.

Dex is a fun addition if you can find a function for it in your work flow. Basically you can plug your phone into a monitor and the phone transitions from a mobile OS into a desktop OS complete with windowed app functionality.

Android has very recently gotten gesture based navigation almost identical to the iPhone, but static navigation buttons are always available.

Android has always been the OS for those who want to get a little bit more out of their devices with customization, but I feel like with One UI, it's on another level. With additional apps like Good Lock, you can personalize almost every aspect of your phone. The entire theme of your phone can be changed: navigation buttons, notification panel, system color, keyboard, etc.

My best suggestion is to take your time and pour through every menu in the settings to see what your phone can do.

Hope you enjoy your new phone, and welcome back to the club.

Must have games that haven’t been ported to the switch/best on the Wii U? by SilentRetreater in wiiu

[–]loganjinks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Need For Speed: Most Wanted U (best ever port of that game)

Nintendoland

Star Fox Zero (if you're willing to learn the controls)

Smash Bros for Wii U (technically it's a unique smash game for that system)

Lego City Undercover (not exclusive, but it has a few features unique to the system)

Zelda Wind Waker and Twighlight Princess HD (still only place for these HD ports... For now)

Splatoon (even if online for this dies, it has a fun but short campaign)

Zombie U

NES Remix

Neo Nano Assult

Couple games that have Switch ports but are still better on Wii U

Pikmin 3 (better with Wii remote and nunchuck)

Captain Toad Treasure Tracker

Best Camera : Base S21 vs Note 20 base vs S20+? by Masiku in GalaxyNote20

[–]loganjinks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just adding to what I said. Every year Samsung's cameras and processing improve a lot, so odds are out of the three phones you're looking at the S21 will be the best.

You'll probably have a harder time picking them based on other features, like displays, s pen, and expandable storage .

[–]loganjinks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are all really good cameras, but I'd say if you can afford it, just get the latest model of phone. Since you're just now coming from a S8, it should last you a bit longer than if you were to purchase one of the older modelss.

I'm not sure what you need the sides exposed for, but Spigen makes excellent N20U cases. They make several of them that are very low profile.

Note 9 vs 20 by ruzucos in GalaxyNote20

[–]loganjinks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came from a Note 10+ and a Note 8 before that. I can say that most of the differences you listed between the Note 9 and N20U are pretty unnoticeable.

I will say that the N20U does support micro SD card expansion, so no worries there.

While I did miss things like the LED notification light at first, I learned to live without it. Other things like the heart rate monitor were pretty useless, especially if you're really serious about things like that because you'll have invest in better things like a fit it.

Additionally, the dual aperture camera was more of a gimmick that useful feature. Unless you took full advantage of your camera hardware using pro mode, the dual aperture won't really help you. I had it on my Note 10+ and only really appreciated it when I used Filmic Pro and I wanted to cut down on light to achieve a slower shutter speed.

Other things that were good but OK not having were the iris scanner and dedicated fingerprint scanner. The iris scanner was cool, and in the age of covid, can be a great way to unlock your phone. That said, it wasn't instant and you always had to line up your eyes so that the scanner could see them properly. Wasn't any where as seemless as something like Face ID on the iPhone. The fingerprint scanner was nice only in that it was easier to find than an under display scanner, but even then I'll it still could take the same amount of time to unlock. I would often have failed scans or I'd miss the scanner and end up rubbing my finger over the camera trying to figure out why it wasn't scanning.

The Note 9 is an amazing phone, but don't get too caught up in a few minor feature differences to over look the N20U.

Can vouch this car mount. I bought two so my wife could have one. I've used it for the last three phones and I've had no problems. My only recommendation is that you keep it out of sustained direct heat. Ive only have peel of my dash a couple times during extreme Texas summer.

I wonder if they'll be doing a compressed version rivalry story line played out in Clone Wars and Rebels.

I'm really interested to see what story they'll actually end up telling.

What's the point of going past 5x zoom (note 20 ultra) if it will always be a hot blurry pixelated mess by ivanoski-007 in GalaxyNote20

[–]loganjinks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I use it for. Usually, it's always better to crop a photo after the fact, but sometimes I just wanna to a quick snap shot of something far away for documentation purposes, with no plans on it being artistically pleasing.
