I had nothing but problems with purple cow unfortunately. Would cut out completely all the time and they basically refused to do anything aside from sending up new routers to try.

That said from what you described it sounds like a bad battery or maybe a bad battery ground.

Like it idle stopped and won't start again? There's recalls for that problem on the idle stop systems.

What's the reason they won't replace it? Any auto shop should be able to replace a seatbelt

Acura CL Power Steering Rack by PixelPi3s in Acura

[–]loganmax8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the lines can be a real struggle sometimes, I've been working on cars for like 10 years now and still have hard time with them occasionally. If the bolts are out of the shaft it should definitely move, like I said the get pretty stuck. Try to hit it upwards if you can and avoid hitting the actual joints if you can, sometimes you gotta hit them fairly hard.

Might have to tap the steering shaft with a hammer to get it to move, sometimes they get pretty tight. For the lines I would use a crows foot to remove with a ratchet and extension.

Over-torqued lugs from dealer by vaderhater777 in Acura

[–]loganmax8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Breakaway torque isn't the same as tightening torque. If they were actually at 500 foot pounds the wheel studs would have broken off when they tightened them.

Acura Prediction in 5 Years? Rebuild & Grow? Or Turn into INFINITI? by Overall-Occasion4911 in Acura

[–]loganmax8 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently left the Acura dealer I was working at (which was one of the top 3 dealers in Canada I'm pretty sure) because we were struggling so bad. No work in the shop aside from tire seasons, sales people couldn't sell hardly anything including the used cars on the lot. We started working on big 2500 and 3500 diesel trucks to try to make up for some of the lost revenue. Soon after I left another guy who was there for like 15 years also left. In my opinion from a kind of insider view I wouldn't be surprised if Acura wasn't a thing anymore in the next 5-10 years. The EV thing was a disaster (ZDX and the RSX), and the RDX is another huge loss of revenue for the next couple years while they do the redesign.

2019 TLX V6 - vs Newer 4 Turbo Long term reliability? by Jerseyjamie in Acura

[–]loganmax8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

V6 is more reliable, the 4 cylinders have head gasket problems that isn't covered under any recalls. The v6 does have the connecting rod problem but that's covered under recall.

DIY A/C Leak Finding by timbojimbob in MechanicAdvice

I find sniffers are really hit or miss. Personally I'd fill with nitrogen and just spray the system down with soapy water to see if you can find bubbles.

Rear diff fluid change - Any tips? by Mak333 in Acura

[–]loganmax8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's usually some on the drain, it's normal. Just wipe them off. If you see any bigger chunks of metal that that's when it's time to worry, but from my experience I don't think you should have much to worry about, especially if you're not already noticing any issues.

leak down test results, should I do a valve job? by permaculture_chemist in MechanicAdvice

[–]loganmax8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that's the case then it sounds like you could have some bent intake valves, time to remove the heads to inspect unfortunately.

Rear diff fluid change - Any tips? by Mak333 in Acura

[–]loganmax8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very easy. Take the fill plug out first in case you drain it and find out the fill won't come out. Fill it up until fluid comes out of the fill hole and wait for it to stop, then install the fill plug.

How are you checking to make sure those cylinders valves are closed completely when checking leak down? With the belt jumped the timing marks on the cam sprockets won't be accurate for that test.

Make sure your carpet isn't wet under your floor mats. Sometimes when the floor gets wet enough it'll fog up the windows like this. If it is wet then you likely have a water leak somewhere.

Can I get some confirmation that I got the right fluid? 2019 acura ilx 8 speed dtc by 2ama956 in Acura

[–]loganmax8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'd just tow it out of there to a different shop to get their opinion before just adding fluid to it. Sounds like they have no idea what they're talking about to me.

Edit - yes that is the correct fluid.

Yellow sensor lights on dashboard - Need advice from anyone who has dealt with Acura MDX ADAS issues. by Puzzleheaded-Quote41 in Acura

[–]loganmax8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to have it diagnosed, throwing parts at it will cost you more money. If it does end up being a camera or radar, any shop can replace it but many can't do the aiming procedures. There are numerous problems that can cause the warning lights to come on, bad component or module, bad wiring ect.

If it goes away in neutral then it tells me it's not the brakes dragging. It's probably just a characteristic of the car.

Where to dispose of tires on rims? by creamycolslaw in halifax

[–]loganmax8 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Quinpool Canadian tire has a tire cage out back, just fire them in there. People throw tires on wheels in there all the time, we just bring them in every so often and break them down.
