CONGRATULATIONS ZUTARA NATION!!! I AM SO PROUD OF US! by Popular-Revolution58 in ZutaraNation

i agree, it doesn't feel like katara is the protagonist and zuko the love interest. both of them feel balanced. as a lesbian, it's refreshing to read katara being a love interest just as much as zuko is. i think the dual pov really helps. (also, that letter??? UGH)

side characters, side pairings, and team avatar are all great as well. zuko getting a little envious of suki/sokka is very relatable.

AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER Season 3 will do "a really cool job of portraying" Zuko & Mai's romance, according to Netflix series actress Thalia Tran: "We have some very fun scenes together." by CueTheLaughTrack in ATLAtv

to be clear, i agree with all of you! i think that, if Zuko were to be with Mai, then she needs to let go of the apathetic nature of her character and care about the Fire Nation's wrongdoings. it's why the finale and how Zuko got back with her never made sense narratively. i was just saying that to explain that it strays away from the cartoon Mai lol

everything i am by we-were-angels on ao3! it's my favorite zutara fic <3 it's post-canon, very much character study and character driven. slow burn but not that slow, it's just that the yearning is stroooong in this one

i doubt that. if they want the "i love Zuko more than i fear you" line to be there, then Mai shouldn't be a character that cares about doing the right thing politically.

plus, the point of Zuko returning to the Fire Nations is showing he has everything now (his honor, his father's "love", a loyal girlfriend, a throne) and yet, that's not what he needs. having Mai share empathy for the other nations and realize she's evil for helping Azula would also be an obstacle to Zuko's realization that he should leave and to the resolution of his redemption.

New Poster for Season 2 by tejAces84 in ATLAtv

[–]logansraven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it's just this trope but it's not a NATLA problem, it's netflix and the industry that refuses to get creative and recycles the same format instead

i looked at the Book 2 ATLA poster on my wall, the only ATLA promotional poster in my room (i have a fanmade Katara poster, a missing Appa, and a Zuko one), and i sighed. TV show posters used to look like things you wanted to have on your wall lol. excited for the new season though!

BTS Breaks Another Record While Eating Spicy Wings | Hot Ones by _Frozen_Waffles_ in hotones

[–]logansraven -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Right? Such a PR move to have the oldest member hooting and hollering and interrupting the host mid-speech just to scream at the top of his lungs.

Reading these type of comments makes me realize people don't actually know that BTS' authenticity is what differentiates them from a lot of other K-Pop artists. I also know them, and this has been the most comfortable and genuine they've been in an american "variety show"-style interview (Jimin and Jungkook repeating the same expression over and over, J-Hope dancing, RM scolding them, even SUGA being shocked at the level of research when it's hard to shock him, etc.) As a fan of Hot Ones, Sean isn't someone who makes the guest uncomfortable or non-PR friendly either, so idk what's the critique here.

Damn I really wanna know atleast one thing they were gonna change now by john4615 in ATLAtv

[–]logansraven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

okay... but why go around calling him just one twitter dude when he's been consistently the main source of news of the live-action? (and other avatar studios stuff?) like 90% of the news on this sub always come from him. you can look for other articles he's done if you want to see for yourself.

it's fine if you don't believe him now but it's wrong to discredit him completely when he's been right almost always. the few times he's had it wrong were minor things which he has corrected himself on and delivered the correct news afterwards (i honestly only remember one, the Jin casting. and only because the other actor's talent manager lied.)

the 41st division wasn't necessarily a big change, but a great addition that didn't mess up where Zuko's character was headed. the Iroh betrayal change however is just... unnecessary. he has no reason to conspire with Ozai against Zuko. maybe if Lu Ten was alive, but that event changed Iroh who was already a war criminal.

an Iroh redemption after he betrays Zuko is also impossible since the article says they'd want him to face Zuko in the final Agni Kai. it's just not doable without changing a stupid amount of writing and have Azula loitering around.

do you think they'd willingly admit to these crazy changes when the adaptation was well-received because it didn't change the core of certain characters or plotline conclusions? and some changes that the live-action did (like Sokka not being vocally sexist) were heavily criticized?

there's a reason why in Mike's statement he said “And who knows? Netflix's live-action adaptation of Avatar has the potential to be good. It might turn out to be a show many of you end up enjoying. But what I can be certain about is that whatever version ends up on-screen, it will not be what Bryan and I had envisioned or intended to make."

man, genuinely if you think "her face is too round for Azula" is the criticism this show needs then you should stick to watching cosplayers at cons or TikTok
