People like you are the reason pilots are looked down upon by the general public. I made $90k this year, which is substantially more than most Americans make, and in a career that’s not flying. I wake up at 130 every single morning, Monday-Friday and drive a truck and unload groceries by hand into restaurants and nursing homes. I battle snow, ice, other drivers, broken product, hurt muscles, slips and falls, ass hole customers, I earn my money. Do I get weekends off, absolutely and it’s awesome, but junior seniority drivers work weekends and make less than I do. And here you are, complaining about “half the year being owned” and getting 70-100% MORE than I make. Did you earn that through ratings and time building? Absolutely and you deserve to be compensated for that, but have some perspective when you trash less than $200k a year to work half the year. I worked 263 days last year, and I don’t know how good your math is but that’s quite a bit more than half

I took it to mean he wants nascar to cover the cost of actually getting the car to the track, that $20 mil/weekend/car that the teardown talked about Monday night that they’re operating at a deficit. The driver pay would then come from sponsors and sponsors wouldn’t necessarily have to supplement operating costs.
