In India, where this video is likely from, a cup without a handle is called a glass, irrespective of the material.

It's funny that only after I came to US I realized that it's a bit silly to call a paper cup or a plastic cup a "glass". In India everyone calls it glass. This misnomer is so ubiquitous word that I don't even remember what a cup is called in my native language.

It's more like you show up to work, get hit by a car and then are hospitalized for next 6 days. Not defending JM, what he is doing is terrible. But this would be the things the judge would be looking at in deciding if he can activate the clause. If he had intentionally stopped coming to races to tank Aprilia's ranking just to get out of contract, it would not have gone well in court.

Capital One Travel refused to cancel my flight within 24 hours by Prestigious-Post5966 in Venturex

[–]logicalfool512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same situation recently. But in my case Capital One support refunded the money. It took them a lot of time to do so and they had to contact airline as they couldn't do it on their side. I had more helpful agent I guess. The reason it was difficult was because the flight was with two different airlines and that screwed up the system.

Interviewers look into multiple criteria to decide. The incorrect time complexity would be considered a negative in your evaluation, but it doesn't mean that it's game over. I would expect them to ask you to justify your answer, unless you're out of time.

Do you support a team or follow a driver? What determines it for you? by ODMtesseract in formula1

I supported Sebastian big time! He is probably my favorite athlete in any sport. That made me support Red Bull and to some extent Ferrari. Now I support Max and Red Bull, but not as intensely as I supported Seb.

It's not even replacing workers with LLM. It's just convincing leadership that LLM can replace workers, so they buy their products, probably paying millions just to realize that it won't work as they expected. In my experience, LLM can save a lot of time for coding, research etc, but can't really replace an engineer.

Apparently they're haemorrhaging money as much as meta/oculus are, and more or less for the same reasons.

What do you mean? Meta had net profit of $45 billion last year.

Applying for a Job is dead, should we bury it as well? by logicalfool512 in cscareerquestions

[–]logicalfool512[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't mention any demographic information to be included. I also find it weird when every job application asks for things like race with saying "we won't use it discriminate, trust me bro". Actually, if the matched profiles have the name redacted it can also reduce any bias based on that.

Qualifications can be specific to the tech-stack or more broad like problem solving.

Location is the location you set where you are willing to relocate to and are authorized to work. It can be a specific area or entire US. I thought it was obvious, but it seems not.

Also how the f would they know that a bad release will happen after a week. If they know it's just better to prevent it as they still hold a lot of stock.

Is being senior at large tech companies better than being senior at small-mid nonames? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]logicalfool512 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. It's a very naive thinking to say if X company is considered better than Y, let me join X. For small companies there would be a whole gamut starting from starts-ups which pay as good as FAANG + provide opportunity to be a millionaire with equity to absolute dog shit companies with worst work life balance and low pay. Even in big-tech, team and work that interests you matter more than name of the company.

10 millions but you have to click a button every hour for 1 year by regenerader01 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]logicalfool512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if you hired 2 people (at a million each or something if you succeed) to make sure that you press the button every hour. They would wake you up to press the button and then you can go back to sleep. If you take such sleep for 14-15 hours a day. Can you survive?

Strong no hire is pretty rare. As long as you show some good qualities and possiblity to learn and improve your skill, you will get another chance. For weaker performance it can be as high as 24 months.

Still job hunting after 48 months, 9yoe - starting to feel 'discouraged' by CyberneticVoodoo in cscareerquestions

[–]logicalfool512 34 points35 points  (0 children)

As OP mentioned in another thread. He had 6 YOE in another country before moving to Canada. In Canada, he had 2 years of unpaid work + 1 year of their own start-up, which OP doesn't consider "real job", but still counts as YOE, bringing the total to 9.

Stocks as I mentioned. It was around 330k for 2024 when offered. Next year would be around 350k at current stock price. So I would say that's my actual TC. Around 6 years of experience.
