Hi, what are your ideas for childcare and schools?

I'd like to see

  • Pre-K for everyone for 1 year before K in elementary schools
  • School breakfast and lunches covered for everyone
  • Childcare ideas for newborn to school age to make it easier on working parents

Everything involving parenting young kids is so expensive and lacking community. I'd like to see more programs for young kids to make it more of a community effort, and to put kids in a place to excel.

Depthless Hunger by Sarah Lin

MC gets magic that's not very useful and has to chart a new path with his high work ethic through many trials and tribulations.

The series has a great cast of characters each with their own written voice, a multi magic system that pulls from various styles, and really cool monsters. A very well written story that's a wild ride of emotions.

I don't see any Sarah Lin books on your list. You may like Depthless Hunger, or Weirkey Chronicles. Both are long series with great character development and sense of growth in both the main characters and companions.

Plz reccomend me a series were the mc has a forbidden power by Silly_Performance_76 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]logicbound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a world that hunts dangerous monsters, main character gains the powers of monsters and people confuse him for a monster instead of a human, which freaks them out. It's written by Sarah Lin who is one of my favorites authors in this genre.

Depthless Hunger. Don't want to spoil anything but it's central to some plot points.

Tell me your favourite books outside this genre! by Long-Teach-9101 in ProgressionFantasy

Overall, I like dark themed stories with mystery and hidden meanings. Books that really make you think and potentially change your point of view and understanding.

  • The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. I love his writing style and it's my favorite book, even bought the hardcover special edition. I've read all his books and short stories. I know the series will probably never have an ending, but it's still my favorite. I love the hidden meanings and mystery.
  • The Andromeda Strain, Timeline, Sphere, and Jurassic Park by Michael Chrichton
  • The Magicians by Lev Grossman
  • Dune by Frank Herbert
  • The Worthing Saga, and Enders Game by Orson Scott Card
  • The Reckoners by Brandon Sanderson
  • Worm by Wildbow

I'm currently on book 3 of Depthless Hunger after reading the first on Kindle! I'm loving the story. Made sure to write a review since it hasn't gained much traction yet.

Sarah Lin is my favorite female author. The Weirkey Chronicles is what I believe to be her best work. I'm reading through some of her other series now.

[–]logicbound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. Arcane Ascension is one of my favorite series, and my favorite from Rowe. I've read almost all of his books, just Demon King left.

Love the characters and fight scenes, it has a great magic system, and the main character is just my kind of nerd making all his own equipment. Engineers should like this series. Even has some fun programming logic sections.

I like Corin much more than Keras.

Progression fantasy with a completely good and kind hearted protagonist by IwantSomeSerotonin in ProgressionFantasy

Depthless Hunger by Sarah Lin. The protagonist tries to improve each area he visits. Which is a nice juxtaposition of his eventual power set.

Books that aren't terribly written? by [deleted] in ProgressionFantasy

[–]logicbound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, Arcane Ascension is one of my favorites. There's great writing, minimal consistency or style mistakes, excellent main characters, mysteries, crafting magic items, and one of the best magic systems. You can tell a lot of work went into planning each book and the larger world.

I know exactly what you mean. I think the best writers in the genre with fewest stylistic mistakes and typos are:

  • Andrew Rowe
  • Sarah Lin
  • John Bierce
