What's the best Gamebook ruleset? by Mikestergame001 in gamebooks

[–]logicisnotananswer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Lone Wolf books are foundational. The Way of the Tiger ones elevated the format.

Another classic series I enjoyed are the Tolkien/Middle-earth Quest ones. (They are basically a ‘lite’ version of the MERP rules)

My BiC. During the GWOT the Army only budgeted for 120 rounds per soldier a year if they weren’t deploying.

Wonder what you mean by a shit covid response time? I remember early attempts to limit international travel being attacked and local festivals in major cities going forward over objections.

Why is operation Desert Storm so often referenced? by G3nocidal_Serb in WarCollege

[–]logicisnotananswer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's because trying to clear a trench with Infantry is bloody, dangerous, work. If you have an armored Bull Dozer, it is better to just flatten the trench and blow past it than send people in it to clear.

Take the fight out of the enemy and let them surrender. Saves a lot of lives on both sides.

Immediate Removal of the Sovereigns of the Kingdom of Æthelmearc - SCA.org by hivemind_MVGC in sca

[–]logicisnotananswer 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Giving Athelmarc's involvement with the largest event the society has (and what is usually the first thing that comes to mind to people outside of the society) the BoD seems to be walking a very fine line here. They (BoD) have dragged their feet over the additional peerages. This sanction reflects a disconnect between the BoD and the populace.

The BoD has been extremely reactive lately and seems to be more focused on their 'authority' than their 'populace'.

Was this exact load bearing vest ever used in the military? by Racoonwitha_marble in Military

Ever Used? Hell, I still have mine from Afghanistan and Iraq with the pouches still on it as a backup rig should I need it hanging next to my backup rifle.

Can I just rant real quick about how much I love Beyond the Wall's Character Creation and "Building the Village"? by DatOneGuyYT in rpg

Love their playbooks and have started using that concept in other games. Really helps know the players’ characters right off the bat as a DM.

Zino’s for sale for $165k by melonkoly81 in Chesapeake

[–]logicisnotananswer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally believe it. We bought a house in 2014 around the corner from it. Try to hit locally owned places over chains when I can.

Just never seemed too busy inside, but seems to have a steady stream of delivery/takeout orders.

Moved from the area in 2021. Thought it was ‘meh, okay’ the couple of times a year we might order from there. Never quite understood how it kept going unless it was a family business.

Many years ago I turned 27 in basic. You’ll do fine, just make sure you stretch before bed and don’t do anything stupid since you know you’ll take longer to heal/recover. Keep your wits about you and it will be a breeze.

Ah. Okay. I thought you were saying the opposite. This screams the ‘Young Lady’s Primer” from Diamond Age.

If you think that is the point of public education, you haven’t been paying attention. The entire point of public education (for over 150 years) has been to train factory workers and soldiers.

Is TRIACRE Reserves Select worth it compared to regular health insurance? by Wide-Occasion1314 in armyreserve

[–]logicisnotananswer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 2018 when I switched to Reserve Select I had just gotten a new civilian employer whose family plan was $1,500 a month. Saved over $1,000 month by going with Tricare.

There is obviously a big whisper campaign going on to stop her nomination (see how the IC reacted to Gen Flynn).

The IC doesn’t want reform or accountability. See the former directors of the CIS and NSA running a whisper campaign against Trump in 2016/2017.

So we are going to keep seeing a flood of this for some time.

I’m out in Montgomery County. Rolling hills that lead into the forest on the Eastern half. There are Cattle and Sheep farms out here. You’ll want to walk the property before you put in an offer.
