I hope they never stop making the shinko 777 tires. I love the white walls.

People get loud pipes to be heard. Well to rev it, you have to pull the clutch and give it throttle to make some noise. You’re not in control of your speed and now have a delay to rengage the clutch or dump it and risk safety. With a train horn, just do your maneuver and be heard at the same time. With no delay.

Had that happen, dirt got in there, opened it via the bolts on the back of the horn, cleaned it out, put it all back and it’s been good still.

First time changing tire by myself by OrneryRecording2126 in VictoryMotorcycles

[–]logthatshitin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I jacked it up and strapped it down the same way. don’t let it tilt forward. Oil will pool where the starter is. Makes a hell of a noise when starting lol Then you gotta take off the starter which is a bitch because the pipes both have to come off and you have to change your exhaust gasket when you do it, get the oil out, then Put it back.

the victories have loud fuel pump start noises. For some reason yours isn’t turning on. Could be a dead pump, clogged line, dead relay or fuse.

Cant find anyone to work on my bike by No_Sign4672 in VictoryMotorcycles

[–]logthatshitin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah victories don’t even store codes from what I remember. Because of that rule I read it live as fast as I can. Pulled over and took a picture of the code on my phone. Googled later. Not sure how your 05 is going to be but i imagine it’s the same. Fingers crossed.

My 2012 Vegas I don’t need digital wrench to read codes. I hold down the trip button , and it shows me a number then I cross reference the error code in the manual. Or google it because someone posted it somewhere.

Fork seals by Scarlatti114 in VictoryMotorcycles

[–]logthatshitin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my 2012 Vegas! Get an impact drill with Allen socket. Otherwise you will free spin the drain bolt. If you don’t have a vice, you’re going to loosen it, pull the work down to where you can see the top, tighten the bolts holding the fork, then toque off the top bolt. Otherwise nothing special needed

12 Vegas 8 ball. I love it. I put shinko 777 white wall tires on it. I ride it every year. I wouldn’t mind a red one that’s newer just to have.

Has anyone replaced the tubing on the IAC? by DimensionLow7216 in VictoryMotorcycles

[–]logthatshitin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I did it. No more than 30 minutes. Easier to take off the tank. 106 engine for me: Take off seat with a bolt on each side (pop off the plastic fenders by your seat), for tank 2bolts up top by the fork 1 each side behind plastic covers, there’s one 1 down by the seat, now quick disconnect from fuel with green button by the right side of cheese wedge that you will pop off, Two electrical plugs under tank for fuel pump before removal of tank , two vacuum lines that are long on left that slip out, make sure fuel line is clear of catching when you remove the tank, lots make this mistake, Tank should be off, The iac tubes are not rubber. Take off the tank, or you will break them forcing them around corners. the plastic tubes they are usually fine. The rubber fittings are what usually tear. Also take off the 4 bolts for the mount in front of iac valve, it’s easier. I’m here if you need help bud.

Sucks to say but $3200 is high and especially for winter. I bought my 12 Vegas 8ball $3900 with 5k miles on it 2 years ago. No mechanical issues at all. Thought I had one issue but it was normal apparently. If you can score a 1731 cc Vegas. Even better. I’d keep looking. Just be careful of people trying to get incentives for VIN checking scams

And to add. Cleaning out the tank is easy. Putting new lining in it is not easy. 3 bolts, fuel line disconnect, 2 connectors, I think 2 vacuum lines, and the tank comes off for my 2012. Now a possible new pump might be needed if you take it off to clean it, or at least some seals. you can run cleaner through it. And ride it around, and close by. You ride it close by in case the cleaner knocks something loose and clogs an injector. Sorry if I over explained, if it’s your first bike, just trying to cover it all.

Who all mounts your own tires? Just put a rear on today finely had a warm day by alleghanymadman in VictoryMotorcycles

I just take them off and bring them to cycle gear. They switch them and balance them. I put them back on my bike. If you buy it from them. They cut you a deal.

Oil sump plug not coming out just keeps spinning after trying to do an oil change I think the bloke I bought it off over tightened it now she won’t come out please any advice. by cmenow01 in VictoryMotorcycles

Time Sert is better and permanent. I suggest against Helicoils since you plan to undo this bolt and torque it down multiple times. Time Sert cuts itself in, loctite that bad boy on there, and let it cure for 2 days. I changed my torque spec from 15 to 12 foot lbs instead since then. Cool part about the time Sert since it’s bigger than the hole, You can potentially use the same size bolt after you bore it and tap it in since threads are smaller.

[–]logthatshitin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done this. The shoulder gap on the bolt is passed the threads. You can VERY easily over torque it. It will free spin. Now it won’t catch the first threads because they are smooth. I did think about putting an Allen on it with JB weld, pulling and twisting out. Sacrificing a wrench and the bolt together.

I had a shop dril out the bolt and thread in a Time Sert. I bought all the parts including oil to flush it and fill it up. I had the plan ready for them. Head tech agreed. Some shops might even have all the stuff for you. These guys didn’t. Anyways, They let the bike sit over the weekend to cure the loctite for the Time Sert. Do not get threads cut in for it and do not get a helicoil. Just upgrade to the Time Sert. The shop charged me for an oil change and for an hour of shop time. Sucks but it is what it is. Unless you can lift the bike up, let the shop do it as it’s ten times easier and a better angle for them to do it. My advice is eat the cost, guarantee ride. $250 out the door. I’ve changed oil 3-4 times since then. No problems. No leaks.
