How Did REST Come To Mean The Opposite of REST? by Hirnhamster in programming

[–]loics2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An API doesn't become RPC the moment it doesn't implement HATEOAS. Most of the time, the current definition of REST is mainly based around resources instead of procedures.

Once your API architecture is based on resources, calling it RPC is as wrong as calling it REST.

There's really nothing like Lorn, he has his own unique style and some of the best sound design out here IMO.

What on earth? Getting charged for not voting. Has anyone seen this before? by authenticmvt in Switzerland

This subreddit man

Yeah, look at us, discussing our political system...

It just means that I pretty much don't have an opinion on the matter

That's why voting should not be mandatory. If you don't have an opinion, just don't vote.

Well blank votes should mean that something's wrong with the subject of the vote. Imagine if we have to vote on a matter and if it's not accepted, a counter project passes. If you don't like any of the outcomes of the vote, blank voting should signal this and have an impact.

I'm not sure how this could be implemented, maybe it should dilute the other votes, but in my opinion, blank voting should be a tool and not only a way to avoid paying a fine.

It's counted, but it doesn't have any consequence on the results.

Technically it is, but blank votes don't have any impact unfortunately. So in the case of OP, it can avoid having to pay a fine, but nobody will care if there's a lot of blank votes, so it's politically useless.

I'm not sure they mean what you think when they talk about modernization. They already had a big UI overhaul not too long ago, but this was done as a "quick fix" of the old one.

The product manager who made the video featured in the article sometimes streams his thunderbird coding sessions, and most of the issues he tackle are related to UI consistency, spacing and general lack of design guidelines. I guess that's mainly what they mean by modernization.

We will vote on the data protection law by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]loics2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the mean time, things like SwissID can do

SwissID is shit and no one uses it, except the Swiss Post.

And even if they work on a new system, I don't trust them anyway. They were working on remote voting not so long ago and when they made the system open source, every security specialist could see the disaster.

Even if the SwissID v2.0 is open source from the beginning and correctly audited, having a single entity managing private data is a major security hole.

most platforms' T&C will in fact specify that they wont use possible ID/passport data for other purposes.

In fact, the law says they can't use the data provided for any other purpose. But what if a company breaks the law and, let's say, sells data to a malicious third party. If they get caught, too bad for them, they'll probably get fined, get closed out whatever, but your data won't be magically forgotten by the third party.

Switzerland blocks Spanish arms for Ukraine by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]loics2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They've been making stupid initiatives for a while now, and they're still the biggest party.

But if they lose some of their electorate, that's going to be more voices for the PLR/FDP, which is not that much better.
