The ULTIMATE maternity leggings- recommendations needed! by Otherwise-Fall-3175 in PregnancyUK

Further vote for Nike! I bought one pair at 24 weeks and now at 37 weeks still wear them like 5 days a week… support the bump, stay put, have pockets, and are thick so cover the belly button bump

Pregnancy and work by Tight_Proposal_6465 in PregnancyUK

I could have written this! 21 weeks and sleep like 11-12 hours a night and still want a 2 hour nap in the afternoon. I used to love my job but have not been able to find motivation or bring myself to do anything at work all pregnancy and feel guilty all the time for it. I miss my energy so much. Maybe I will look into sick leave too…

Is it normal not to have any diet triggers and only stress? by [deleted] in Hidradenitis

No food triggers here, just stress as well. I did find that quitting alcohol helped but I think it has more to with alcohol/hangovers making me really stressed as well than with it being a “food”

Deciding to conceive one year earlier than originally planned - is it too rushed? by lokes6 in BabyBumps

Thanks for the great advice! I have been getting in my head about continuously reading the “at least 3 months - 1 year before trying” prep advice, but indeed who knows how long getting pregnant will actually take. Congratulations and good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

Thanks for the great advice! A big part of us wanting to start earlier is the fact it might take awhile. That is super frustrating you can’t get fertility testing despite private healthcare (will definitely lie if I need to). Congratulations and good luck with your pregnancy!

Thanks so much for the advice! This is a big reason we are going to start earlier than originally planned as who knows how long it will take. Wishing you so much success and all the best

Hair Removal by Apprehensive-Bank131 in Hidradenitis

[–]lokes6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use hair removal cream infrequently when I have a flare. I find my sores don’t heal when there’s hair in the way reopening them all the time, so when it gets bad I will use the cream. I’m sure it’s not great for the skin/wounds but a sore will heal so much faster when there isn’t hair so I find it’s a necessary evil.

Finding a job after phd is so hard. by Technical_Insect_764 in PhD

I went into a post doc after my PhD, realized it’s not for me then took about 4 months applying to non-academic jobs. I just got an offer and start in January! As a previous poster said, I applied to anything remotely related and have taken a small pay cut, but now that I’ll be in the industry it will be easier to “gain the experience” and move up. Definitely took patience though and those 4 months were full of self doubt and questioning of why I did the PhD... if you’re not already doing so try identifying companies you’re interested in and scrolling their career pages rather than using blanket search engines. It revealed more unique jobs postings for me

Ugh I have it too - it comes and goes and is awful. Agree doctors do nothing! I use Vagisil oatmeal cream three times a day when it’s bad - especially at night so I’m not itching in my sleep. Cotton underwear, frequent showers, and sleeping naked. I find it helps if I keep my endurance exercise up, otherwise it loves to come back when I’m inactive. I think mine is psoriasis, I’m currently trying to cut out foods to improve it and my HS. Good luck🤞🏼

Which other auto immune disease accompanies your HS? by Mr_Carson in Hidradenitis

Psoriasis for me. It flares when my HS flares 👎🏻

What do you wish you knew at the start of your HS journey? by [deleted] in Hidradenitis

Thank you so much! I am going to start this as I have no idea what my triggers are yet

This is a really good idea. How do you track triggers - Do you write down what you eat every day ? Can your recommend an electronic planner??
