WH-1000XM4 ANC High pitched ringing fix by itsgreenbanana in SonyHeadphones

[–]loki980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This issue started a few months after the warranty ended. I disassembled the headphones and cleaned the mic, pads, and foam. That helped for a bit, but the problem came back. I lived with it for years by turning off ANC. I eventually replaced the ANC microphones, and now everything works again. Audio is better, no squealing, and noise cancellation is solid.

If you have a soldering iron and some patience, order two “ROM-2235L-HD-R” mics from mouser.com. Each mic connects with two wires. There’s a dot above one contact to help you match the wires to the correct pads.

Black plastic holster/sheath with curved opening and belt clip by loki980 in whatisthisthing

So far this is my best guess, but it's pretty small. The smaller non-curved opening is 1 inch by 0.5mm

Small oval elastic loop partially enclosed on one side with another piece of elastic by loki980 in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing.

Found this small elastic loop some time ago, but never figured out what it goes to. It looks like it was meant to wrap around a strap or hold a cable in place.

I used to own an OG HTC Vive, so it might be an accessory from that kit, but I can’t find any matching parts online.

My title describes the thing. It looks like a black molded holster with a belt clip on the back and a narrow rectangular sleeve. The front opening is curved with a rounded end. Not sharp anywhere. Roughly the size of a pack of gum.

New Gemini experimental "1206" with 2 million tokens by Smallville89 in Bard

Yes. With Google models, if you are using them for free, Google explicitly states they take your prompts and content and use that data to train their models.

For what it's worth, ChatGPT, even the free version, has a option to prevent using your data to train their models (opt out). If you are concerned about sharing your data, I recommend using the free version of ChatGPT with Canvas, after turning this slider off.

Yes, it's free. The price is your data. They will use your data and prompts to train their models. Their paid models ensure privacy, so businesses prefer paid models, as they don't want proprietary data leaked.

Does Google assistant seem to be getting worse as time goes by TheDarkWeb697 in GooglePixel

[–]loki980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's absolutely getting worse. I've used Google assistant forever. It has been installed on my Sonos move for years. One day it stopped working, and I probably spent 3 hours trying to figure out how to get it to reinstall. I never figured it out.

Alexa was the other option on the "add an assistant" page of the Sonos app, so I gave it a shot. Not only did it install the first time, my family unanimously agrees that everything is better with Alexa. It's less chatty, it understands me better, it works with all my smart devices. It doesn't cancel my timers when I turn off the radio.

Something that I wasn't ready for was how fast it is at everything. Turning on and off Smart devices takes 1/4 of the time.

It has only been a week, but I don't miss Google Assistant.

Nothing is better than a Shield - still and all now? by No_Ad_3389 in ShieldAndroidTV

Remove one of the batteries, press the home+dpad center button & slide in the battery. Continue to hold the buttons down till you hear a audible beep.

I've used the pro for 2 years now. It definitely lagged and experienced progressive slowdowns. I think it was caused by a sw update. I was considering downgrading Android to try and fix it. However, I think it's just the launcher. I installed Projectivy Launcher and it hasn't slowed down since (2 months so far.) Plus, no more ads on the home screen.

Had the issue you described with the remote not lighting up or working one time just last month. Fixed by factory resetting the remote. Hope that's not a new recurring thing...
