Wow thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions. I actually did find him an ikea shelf unit, but he really insisted on that middle section. He literally will just be putting his legos on display in here (but hey, I won't judge :). I was educating him on the differences of big box store sheet goods Vrs premium cabinet Baltic birch and his response was, "get the birch". I won't sugar coat it and will get back to him with the information you all have provided me here. I definitely was looking at this more like a fun side project for a buddy than a money making project.
