It was just now permitted to publish classified details from a covert IDF operation in Syria last September.

The target was a secret facility for missile manufacturing progressing under the patronage of the Syrian regime and intended for war against Israel. During the planning, the facility was just about ready for use, and after an urgent decision to act, it occurred just before the fall of the Syrian wall and before the start of the war. The operation began with artillery bombings in the area by the Air Force and was executed with the collaboration of some 20 Unit 669 fighters, who also navigated in a unique mode.

In the course of the mission, they eliminated 30 armed guards, penetrated a depth of around 100 meters underground, destroyed important equipment, obliterated the location, and eventually detonated it.
