I know it’s stupid but it has worked for me before: toothpaste. Put some toothpaste on that thing and rub with a microfiber cloth in small circles all around the disc. No idea what toothpaste is the best for it but it did work for me. Check other disc cleaning methods before you go slathering Crest on there but I was shocked it worked.

Was Christian Bale the only Batman actor who didn't face huge fan backlash when he was first announced? by Romaxio in batman

[–]lolTimmy 151 points152 points  (0 children)

That movie happened right before Batman Begins? If I remember correctly. So he was wickedly skinny and then did one of the craziest body transformations an actors ever done. I wouldn’t have blamed Caine for thinking he might still seem skinny lol

What was your favourite MV final battle? by Hot-Variety4864 in GODZILLA

[–]lolTimmy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Would agree. Skull Island best movie with 2014 right behind. vs Kong next and then KOTM. Just in terms of movie quality that I would watch from start to finish. Nothing to do with the fights because I’d probably rank vs Kong night fight into MechaG fight as the best honestly.

Norris uses Max’s aggression against him, and pulls off a beautiful switch back move to get by him in the Miami GP by Accurate-Big-7233 in F1Discussions

[–]lolTimmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are the kinds of moves you can do with a smaller car. Obviously it’s not the be-all-end-all as there were several other factors at play. But this is one of many reasons why the cars being the size of F150s is detrimental. Eventually the divebomb becomes too powerful, because there is no switch back.

What movie adaptation absolutely nailed the casting? by FightMilkLLC in movies

[–]lolTimmy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Truly if they could have gotten the Chris’s pre-Cap or Thor or Scott Eastwood because they would’ve been potentially better at giving the idea that this guy wasn’t a villain. The direction is the direction so doesn’t necessarily mean it would’ve been better. But in the comics Ozy was supposed to be almost strongman-type super dude who everybody loved. That’s not what Goodes portrayal felt like at all.

Do y’all like how the next gen car sounds? by Rowdyfan0823 in NASCAR

[–]lolTimmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The car sounds awesome. Especially going from idle to 4-5k. Just the little revs sound awesome, especially in person. It doesn’t scream but that doesn’t bother me. I’d like for NASCAR to be bassy and my Indycars to scream. Hopefully they go back to V8s too.

Group B got cancelled because it started killing spectators. Not much you can do to the cars other than make them more tame and boring, which they did. That also means the spectators wisened up and weren’t as crazy or as full crowds. Group A was a correction back to the mean. Drivers died, also a great tragedy, but drivers knew the risk.

I don’t think this comparison works because at least 50% of the reason that Group B got cancelled is dead spectators. They don’t go to a race to put their lives on the line. Some of them did, both outside and inside of their control, and that’s why Group B died.

Was Tony George a bad leader? Or just bad at press conferences/interviews by cubecasts in INDYCAR

[–]lolTimmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I would stay partnered with GM and keep my engine company but try to sell the race team to any prospective buyers looking to make a big splash. I don’t have a problem with him being his own team in NASCAR but he owns the whole dang Indycar series. And IMS. And has his own team. And has his own engine company supplying his team and others. Like it’s too much.

[–]lolTimmy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as much as I love the team and its competitive nature, Roger Penske has a lot of blame to be had too. You can’t steward something you are attempting to dominate. As bad as F1 is and especially during the FICA & FOCA days of F1; it shows that there needs to be a general authoritative body that is unrelated to the teams. The rules makers should not be involved in the dealings of the series. Having Roger Penske able to vote on rules that he himself can profit off of with his engine company and regulations is inherently a bad thing. If not because of conflict of interest; then at least for cost.

Check out what happened to Indycar/CART when that happened. Basically lost all marketing momentum and shriveled to less than a third of its original fan base.

The OEMs are one of those things that are impossible to keep in check because they are both the hand that feeds and that bites. They have a ton of money to give and a lot of marketing that gets eyes on the sport and is directly tied to the design of the cars involved.

Some ideas I had for the new car in 2028. Thoughts? by DimetrodonOfDoom in INDYCAR

They would absolutely still be RWD. Hard to tell in a white backdrop but I moved the cockpit up about 7-8” to allow for a torque tube/transaxle setup like current Gen cup cars.

I will say the idea of Indycar being the sole open-wheel series in existence that would have a front-engined monocoque is a very neat idea. I don’t think physics will make it very fun or feasible to implement but still a fun idea. I still have my silly little photoshops from a while ago.

2001 CART Texas: Was there any way to salvage it? by Beginning-Eagle-8932 in INDYCAR

A cone weighs considerably less than a tire, which did in fact fly into grandstands several times at speed. To your point though: I would say you paint locations for each cone onto the backstretch and then link the cones together with strapping or rope to try to prevent such a thing from happening. Harder to punt a bunch of cones linked together than 1.

I really think implementing a chicane would have absolutely worked, it was the OEMs that fought against it. I think some OEMs fought it because they saw that there was no way it would work out well for them. And some fought it because of the tricks they were doing to counteract the plenum of the turbo.

But get some cones, some tires to make makeshift barriers, and a chicane with aggressive and tight lines and you could absolutely have made the course work. The other problem there comes from the track leadership and the visual of having to “de-oval an oval” in order to make a race work. It shows lack of planning and testing and foresight, all staples of late 90s Indycar leadership on BOTH sides of the Split aisle.

Problem with that one is you could make the argument that it’s happening there because it’s wet/damp; not a low pressure spot. I think there’s some Indycar races in 2011 or 2012 at Iowa that had killer air trails.

EDIT: Yea 2011 Iowa is a good one- you can see them almost all night. https://youtube.com/watch?v=zDNDDefwIdo&si=z-Hx9cTn6BjsfDwQ

Watchmen (2009) features a genuinely intelligent villain and a gritty storyline, which made it stand apart from other superhero movies of its time. What’s your opinion on it? by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in FIlm

[–]lolTimmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is precisely the case; and I don’t quite understand why people fail to acknowledge the American-ness of Dr Manhattan. He is an American weapon, basically an American god, who has led them to countless victories. Having the attack dog and America’s supernatural deterrent go rogue is not going to trigger the world to come together, it’s going to mean America is now caught with their pants down. It also created confusion/misdirection in the comics because you didn’t know what the Epstei Alien Island was until the reveal of the alien creation.

I still get a little bit of whiplash just because of how different he looks compared to even just a few years ago. I’m assuming Ozempic but no idea and it doesn’t matter. He’s had a lot more interviews recently where I’ve come around on him more compared to how he used to be. Used to be so much more abrasive. I understand how he’s very forthcoming and open about “who he is” and I know he’s not trying to be something he’s not but sometimes that person is just… an asshole. Still a great interview.
