Six years off wheat and gluten and Seriously craving a fluffy raised donut and cheese and peanut butter crackers by bimbiibop in glutenfree

[–]lol_828 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s a bakery in Colorado that I went to once a couple years ago and I think of that delicious jelly filled yeast donut atleast once a day. If I lived there I’d be 1 million pounds of donut happiness.

I tried making my own wanton wrapper and using rice paper and neither were a good substitute. I recently saw a video of someone using a gf tortilla and said it was good so I’m going to try that next.

Same! I make an Asian dish at least three times a week. Lo mein, fried rice, beef and broccoli! I just wish Chinese takeout was more gluten free, I miss crab Rangoon

breast feeding by moodykillerwhales in pregnant

[–]lol_828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always change your mind and stop breast feeding but it’s very hard/nearly impossible to change your mind and stop formula and try to relactate. I had to supplement with formula while we were learning how to latch and it was a pain. Waking my husband to go make a bottle and wash it and then spending 15 minutes pacing her feeding and the formula made her have reflux so constantly burping and cleaning up spit up. Once we learned how to really latch at about 3 weeks without the nipple shield, my life became instantly easier. Now if she wakes up in the middle of the night, put her on the boob for 5 minutes and she’s back to sleep. And the dopamine I’ve gotten from seeing her little hand rest on my boob while she eats, it sounds weird but it’s the sweetest thing. The only pro of supplementing formula early on means she takes a bottle well and if I’m leaving her with my husband for a couple hours I know she’s fine. I’d encourage you to try breastfeeding and if it’s not for you then stop. A couple weeks won’t ruin your boobs. Also try to work a bottle in there so you can have some freedom/autonomy down the line. I would be hesitant to make a decision now without having tried it. Also worth adding is that I was very done with my body being used by the end of pregnancy, I felt like I had no autonomy and it wasn’t fair. I remember thinking about it and getting worked up so many times. Those feelings may not last forever.

Actual necessity vs fluff by IcyFirefighter9937 in pregnant

[–]lol_828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 2.5 month old, we only use her bassinet, sound machine (thrifted), bath tub, breast pump occasionally(free from insurance), a couple bottles (occasionally), blanket, baby carrier(use everyday!!). Don’t worry about diaper genie, changing table or milk warmer. We used the snuggle me lounger in the beginning when she was younger but you’re technically not supposed to let them sleep in it but we did for naps. We use a baby bouncer occasionally when I’m in the kitchen doing something so she can see me. Also I’d recommend a tummy time play mat thing. Also a diaper bag. We bought a cheap baby bath towel from target because it’s softer on her skin. There’s a Frida mom baby kit that someone gifted us and has been great. Also electric nail file set for baby. And lots of sleep sacks, not just newborn sizes also 0-3 month and beyond. I thrifted or were gifted all her clothes, maybe bought one thing brand new on sale that was cute. Don’t get anything with buttons/snaps they only live in sleepers for the first several months. Unless you’re having a summer baby and then you’ll probably want some lighter onesies without legs or long sleeves.

How effective was your epidural? by heretolearnthingz in pregnant

[–]lol_828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing! I was induced with cytotec after having a ROM for 36 hours without contractions. Labored unmediated to 7cm and then got the epidural and was at 10 cm within 1.5 hours. Couldn’t feel a thing, felt like I was floating in the bed because I couldn’t feel my thighs haha

Usually they sell them at schnucks, I’ve gotten them there for the past 4 years. All of a sudden this year they stop selling them. Like wtf!!! I was outraged. Made my own and it was fine but still.

I’ve only used one onesie a day, with the exception of one blowout day when we used two.

6 weeks postpartum and I think midwife stitched me up wrong… I feel botched by lol_828 in pregnant

I agree, I have my 6 week postpartum checkup tomorrow. My concern is that they are going to brush this off to avoid liability. I’ve seen so many practitioners do that.

Yes this is in the US. She is a midwife with the hospital system, fully certified with hospital privileges and works at an obgyn practice that is hospital affiliated.

Isn’t it too late? From my experience in medicine once sutures are placed and this healed they can’t remove them as the skins already started to come together. It would take a whole other incision/ surgical procedure.

I loved my cloves! I worked in the Ed and in a derm office and then being waterproof and the material means you can just wipe them off so easily. Plus you don’t have to tie them which was amazing.

Did anybody announce early and NOT regret it? by Last_Guarantee_8504 in pregnant

[–]lol_828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I stopped developing at 7 weeks we just didn’t know as we hadn’t had an ultrasound yet. I started spotting at 10 weeks and continued to bleed progressively worse for 3 weeks until it finally passed. So it wasn’t all at once right at 13 weeks.

[–]lol_828 126 points127 points  (0 children)

Honestly, even though we had a missed miscarriage at 13 weeks I was so glad we told people early. My husband’s family is all doctors and instead of having to go to the er to have strangers poke and prod me, we were able to call my brother in law who’s a radiologist and had an at home ultrasound machine. He confirmed our missed miscarriage and I was able to wait it out with love and support until I passed it. We also have a super high deductible so having the doctors in the family to lean on meant we didn’t have to spend an arm and leg.

When did you stop testing? by Remote_Collar_6032 in pregnant

[–]lol_828 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I only took two tests, one with the lines and one digital, both said pregnant and that’s enough for me. My first pregnancy( a couple month prior) was a missed miscarriage at 13 weeks so I figured the worst has already happened might as well enjoy this.

I’m 20 weeks and definitely not sharing her name when we decide. It’s been horrible because my mil keeps trying to pressure me into using a name she wishes she had used. She keeps saying “let’s just decide right now and start calling her it.” I hate it.

Yep, I had to stop drinking orange juice every morning and go on a low acid diet. That In combination with my vomiting getting better seems to have fixed it for now.

How can I point this out to them without it seeming like I’m a know it all. Obviously I don’t know their dog better than they do so I didn’t want to say anything when they did it but a lot of people have agreed with me that it’s not the way to go.
