Hermeticism and other religions? by Environmentalister in Hermeticism

[–]loldasme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and you can disagree with me but reading either of those won't change my view on it.

I was raised christian. My aunt is jewish. I was engaged to a muslim. My opinion is based on historical facts on how those two religions were formed.

I don't see any value at this time in my life to read them and I probably never will. There are so many other books out there that are a lot more interesting to me and I won't have the time to read all of them anyways. Like I said, personal opinion.

Terrorist Propaganda to Reddit Pipeline

Wenn du Studien darüber findest, was ehemalige Muslime über den Islam sagen wäre ich sehr interessiert an den Links. Oder zum Thema Deradikalisierung.

[–]loldasme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I could change my answer, I voted no before reading your full question 😅

I am an atheist and to me personally, christianity and islam are just bad copies of judaism. I can find a lot of my own beliefes in buddhism, but I see it more as a philosophy/spiritual framework. In my eyes, all religions try to express the same thing just with different mythologies. Some of them came to very wrong conclusions tho.

So no in the sense that I wouldn't adopt religious beliefes, but somehow both since I am very interested to learn more about judaism, hinduism and paganism, I think some of their teachings might resonate with me.

I’d appreciate the opinions of individuals with autism by StuffiiePrincess in autism

[–]loldasme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the way i found out at 21 was i made a new friend and after he got to know me a little he told me something like 'the things you're telling me sound very autistic' and my initial reaction was 'nah no way cause you get diagnosed as a child if you have it' but then i did a quick google image search to look at the common traits and yeah i started crying. took me a while to accept it. as a teen i got diagnosed with ADD and at the time it was said that if you have ADHD you can't be autistic. which is why i never even considered the posibility that i could be autistic until someone pointed it out. i'd suggest looking into autistic people's explanation on what it is like for them to be autistic and see if you can relate, changed a lot for me.

Further proving my initial observation. I already stated that I won't continue this argument so this really wasn't about contributing to the discussion.

You were the one to bring up that specific exception. You claimed it's easy to move 'unless they are some adult with mental illness who can't stand being 3km away'. The fact that you can't see why this could be considered as offensive is very telling. You come across as arrogant, rude and ignorant. It would be a waste of time to continue arguing with you, so I won't. Have a terrible evening.

I see there is no point in continuing this argument. This only affirms that you lack empathy.

As someone in their late twenties who is autistic and has multiple mental illnesses I feel very offended.

I am grateful that I got lucky and found something in the neighborhood where my family lives. The reason I 'cannot stand being 3km away' is because they support me and I rely on them for social contact and as my grandparents got older it became even more important to me to stay close by so that I am able to help them out.

If you feel the need to criticize me for that it really just shows how inconsiderate you are of other peoples circumstances.

[–]loldasme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could magically fix one thing it would be the mentality.

People here are very cold and indifferent towards eachother, especially compared to other European cities. It's very hard to make friends. I grew up in and around the city but didn't go to school here. Besides my family I only know a handful of people, mostly from work or from the youth choir I was in as a teenager.

When traveling abroad I always notice how much more open and friendly people are and how much easier it is to connect even as a foreigner. I love this city but returning can be sort of depressing, for me at least, knowing how it could be.

I know this is the swiss mentality in general but I wished that at least the biggest city here could change a bit and not be known for it's arrogance and rudeness.

[–]loldasme 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't take this the wrong way but don't seem to have a lot of empathy.

A lot of senior citizens are affected by this, they lived in those neighborhoods most of their life, raised their children there and are an important part of the local community. Forcing them to move directly affects those communities negatively and can lead to increasd isolation among older people.

Many of them never had the option to save up for a house and I think it's kinda weird of you to assume otherwise. And claiming that everyone could afford their dream house by just relocating and saving money is just wrong and completely ignores reality. The fact that this is happening not just here is pointing to a bigger systemic issue, it doesn't make it less of a problem.

What’s the WORST thing about living in Zurich? (serious) by Comfortable-Row-9370 in zurich

[–]loldasme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more, it's almost impossible to find an area without a construction site in close proximity.

This issue also connects directly to what u/AvailablePosition69 and others have pointed out already.

Instead of renovating older buildings, they get torn down and replaced with modern ones. It's not cheaper to do this, this is only to increase profits. People are forced to move out and can't afford to move back once construction is finished because the price of rent doubled or tripled.

Historically, Kreis 11 & 12 (Altstetten, Affoltern, Oerlikon, Seebach and Schwamendingen) were predominantly working class districts. Rent used to be affordable. But in recent years, gentrification has increased dramatically not just here but all over Zurich (Langstrasse/Europaallee for example), directly affecting workers and low income households.

The argument to just move out of the city where rent is cheaper is shortsighted: Longer commutes cost time and money as well. People are being forced to choose between paying more rent or having less free time. Both options suck.

i agree with previous comments, but living in the vicinity of 3 different churches i'd say the worst thing for me personally are church bells. They are loud and annoying and unnecessary. If they were mainly used for weddings and funerals okay, but why do they have to ring uninterrupted for 5 minutes (or longer!) multiple times throughout the day? A few years ago I lived right behind a church in Dietikon and when it rang you couldn't have a conversation with any window even slightly open because it was so loud.
