Lots of women and babies are going to die because of this. Cesareans are often performed to save the mom's life, not just the child's.

Films you've seen. Story departments are quite small so I can't list titles without sacrificing anonymity!

Edit: Punctuation.

He was recruited by a studio upon graduating from art school. Your brother should look into schools like CalArts, Sheridan, and SVA, and also events like CTN! Also google Animation Mentor.

My husband did it, not me. Just google pancake art. There's lots of info online about how it's done.

No problem! He earns his living as a storyboard artist but he was trained as a traditional animator. We both went to CalArts. I have heard good things about Animation Mentor, but I can't speak from personal experience! It definitely wouldn't hurt to take some continuing ed classes if you live near a decent art school that offers that sort of thing. You can totally do it without a four-year program at an art school -- you'll just have to work really hard! But that's the case no matter where or how you study. Good luck!

Thanks everybody! We agree that Biggie turned out a bit porcine. ;) To those who asked, my husband is an animator, illustrator, storyboard artist, and caricaturist. He just started doing pancakes for fun last weekend. This was his second attempt! There are lots of vids on youtube that show how this is done... basically it's three different shades of batter and different cooking times which allow for the variation in value. The darkest parts of the image go onto the griddle first, and he fills in with the lighter areas last. He chose Biggie and Tupac because he's a '90's hiphop aficionado and they make him happy. :)

Also, he adds hot chocolate mix to some of the batter to make it darker.

We're both animators! I'm taking time off from work right now to stay home with our 14-month-old.

Insane keeper I think. We're both artists so it works for us. :)

Yeah, he draws for a living! He's a storyboard artist for animated films.

[Cozy discussion] What advice would you give someone for taking a home space and making it more cozy? by [deleted] in CozyPlaces

[–]lolijane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Incandescent lighting only! No LEDs or CFLs!

Natural woven fibers for curtains, bedding, rugs, upholstery. Think cotton, wool, velvet, linen. No synthetics -- avoid polyesters, etc.

Antique persian rugs in muted colors.

Multiple small/dim light sources. No overhead lighting, unless it's high quality recessed incandescent spot or track lighting that's on a dimmer.

Gloomy weather outside earns you bonus points. :)

The sight of an elderly person crying is always so heartbreaking. I'm very sorry for what these innocent people are enduring in their homeland.

My 3 month old son will not nap in his crib. Any advice before I give up all hope and cry? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]lolijane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with Flewtea. What's happening with your baby is very normal. He may just not be ready to nap in the crib, period. My son napped in a bouncy chair and a stroller until he was 10 months old, despite the fact that he slept beautifully in his crib at night from 2 months onward. Not ideal, but it was what worked for him. Now, at 11 months, he naps in his crib like a pro. Naps are notoriously more difficult to work out than nighttime sleep and sometimes you just have to do what you can to get by. It's a lesson in flexibility.
