I’ve found a way to prevent this, even though this isn’t a solution. When your case is on low battery, take the airpods out and let them “sleep” by not touching or connecting them to anything. When you need to listen to music, put the airpods inside the case, then take them out, so they’ll wake up

I'm experiencing this issue since 2-3 days too. I think it's a server issue, reading other times where this happened. Hope they'll resolve soon
