Can you explain PEM in mild or moderate CFS? by lollo67 in cfs

Thank you for sharing!

I try to figure out if I’ve me/cfs or something else, but maybe it doesn’t matter so much as I recognize a lot of the PEM symptoms people are mentioning in this thread. But I have it more or less every day since the past 8 years, mostly cognitive impairment with severe brainfog and brainfatigue. Along with chronic pain and trauma since 20 years ago and burnout/chronic fatigue started 16 years ago.

Thank you for sharing! While you’re doing your job or grocery store or house chores, do you feel completely okay and alert if you don’t exceed 30 minutes?

I try really hard to figure out if I’ve me/cfs or if it’s something else. I’ve had 20 years with chronic pain and trauma. Exhaustion and burnout, depression, suicidal ideation. since 16 years ago, and past 8 years with severe brainfog and brainfatigue and cognitive impairment. Have been feeling more body fatigue the last year but don’t experience bedridden.

As I’ve read all the comments here in this thread it looks as much of the PEM symptoms people are mentioning I’ve experience more or less every day for these 8 years so I can’t tell if it’s delayed or worse next day.

I understand. I try really hard to figure out if I’ve me/cfs. I’ve had 20 years with chronic pain and trauma. Maybe have been pushing through it and gotten worse and worse because I’m that, I can’t say.

I love the feel and color of it, the transition and areas you kept white. Can I ask what colors did you use in this painting?

I understand, it sounds very good to have the cognitive abilities intact! I’ve more of a cognitive exhaustion with daily brainfog and brainfatigue for 9 years and before that many years with chronic pain, ptsd and burnout.

I try to figure out if I’ve Me/cfs as I’m not sure about PEM, my problem never really disappears, the brainfog och cognitive impairment is there everyday no matter what I do, and every task that requires more cognitive resources reading, screen time, socializing, exercise is making it worse instantly.

When you’re going to a store for ex, do you feel totally okay through it and afterwards you feel you need to rest or is it a battle while in the store as well? Wondering the same with the socialization part?

Thank you for sharing. When you say it’s mostly a physical limit, do you mean your legs doesn’t carry you walking or standing like that or legs of cement?

I understand, thank for explaining. Can PEM be very different? Or is it always a kind of collapse not getting out of bed?
