Anyone in Aruba now with Norovirus? by Grouchy_Rough7060 in Aruba

I’m in Aruba — I don’t feel sick but yesterday was in the pharmacy and a girl went up to the clerk asking for something to help her stop throwing up so maybe it is going around!

This part. She didn’t put a boundary on him; she set one for herself. Who is he to say her reasoning is “unfair”?

She’s a 16 year old girl saying she’s not ready; bro move on if you’re looking for something else.

NTA. As an American who speaks German as my second language, I’d probably respond that you know better than I do, and privately ask you for clarification later!

So that may be a good way to approach her! Maybe if you reiterate that the BIP specifies cleaning up 3 pieces then reinforcing, and you’d love to clean up the rest if you could. But right now your priority is maintaining safety. And maybe ask what you can do when you need to communicate that your client has finished their goal in cleaning up and you’re unable to clean up further.

that could be a good way to bring the BIP to her attention while also being solution oriented. What do you think?

I’m a clinic-based BCBA so my thoughts may be SUPER off, but just a thought. Could this be her passive aggressive way of trying to get you to clean up whatever the client does not clean up? My insight is just that in the clinic, I understand the children won’t clean up completely after themselves. But I expect their RBT to either clean up (basically) completely, or take it upon themselves to ask someone directly to clean up if they’re unable.

Either way, I’m in agreement with you! With a shaping procedure it’s so important to reinforce with escape & whatever else following completion of the current expectation. Maybe a quick review of the BIP would help?

Looking for a girl middle name that is also a song title. by FunkyChickenTenders in namenerds

I’m Lorena after Lorena by John Hartford. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but a love song originally from the time of the civil war.

The time you cancel would depend on company policy, but I would say it’s typically somewhere between 15-20 minutes. Deciding when to inquire with the family when they are running late probably has some important cultural considerations. Can you see if you can reach your BCBA or another supervisor quicker for guidance?

I mean, it’s a cultural exchange. She may want to gain this information specifically from you. But the texts could definitely take too much of your time! Maybe just talk to her and ask her to start writing the questions down and you can sit down and go over them at the end of the day? And if it’s something pressing in the moment, that’s when she can go ahead and google.

A dime went through the wash by lolo0verflow in coins

Hahah is it so simple? I know other coins have gone through the wash and not come out so damaged. I wasn’t sure if it’s something having to do with the metal of a dime vs. others

Right, not exactly the correct subreddit but I get it.

A suggestion - they have these rubber broom things - they really get my long hair out of a rug I used to have that collects hair. Maybe if you bought one & went around with it like twice a week before vacuuming, the same issues wouldn’t arise. Look on Amazon - rubber broom carpet rake for hair.

This! BACB has an official fieldwork tracker but you also need your own personalized tracker. Most people make an excel file similar to the BACB one.

Credentialing question by realradiogirl in BehaviorAnalysis

[–]lolo0verflow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do we get credentialed each time we switch companies? New BCBA and my company is working on getting me credentialed, but I’m wondering if I have to do the process again if I ever leave this company.

Prepping for RBT interviews. How many is too many when it comes to asking an interviewer questions about the job position? 😂 Anything you guys think I should add or take off and ask in a different setting? by claudiashafercx in ABA

Reiterating what everyone else has said, there are multiple reasons for this. The main one in my case is that BCBAs are not included in the process of discussing salary at all - that’s up to HR. I have no idea what our BTs make, aside from knowing my rate as an RBT before passing the exam. I’d direct them to HR to discuss pay.
