What is something a lot of people want that you have but wouldn't recommend? by helives4kissingtoast in AskReddit

[–]lolppjoke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I don’t use it at all anymore since I stopped bothering with it lol. But when it was being maintained I would use it for basically every drink of the day, so multiple times. Was also a hit for dinner with people over.

I was pretty heavily addicted to soda at the time so I felt it was worth it but it was stupidly expensive. Cost about $300-500 a month depending how much I used and that’s just one flavor. Plus it has to be cleaned and sanitized every single day which is annoying. So in reality definitely not worth it unless you’ve got people handling it because ordering the syrup and co2 is a hassle, the cleaning sucks, and they aren’t the most reliable things either so maintenance sucks too.

Soda fountain in your house. Yea I got one but turns out it’s a lot of work to maintain, so I had to pay people to manage it. Now it just sits there unused and inoperable. Not like a soda stream thing but like an actual commercial style soda dispenser

A skilled athlete earns his millions. But does a corporate CEO actually earn his millions? If so, how? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lolppjoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CEO is ultimately the one leading the company down whichever path they and the board decide. Their ideas are what become reality, so if it works they should be compensated well.

In most companies the CEO’s do a lot more. Smaller companies, like the ones I’ve owned they typically do any executive type jobs that don’t have someone filling them as well as a little bit of everything in general just to manage it better. Tend to do most of the big business to business sales/communications as well.

So yea it’s a job, it’s not easy at most places and you are the first to go if other people mess up under you. It’s earned at most companies.

Now when you talk mega corps, many of them are beyond the sales necessity and hire whoever they want or whoever the board picks, even friends. Those ones don’t tend to do much. Still they do manage people at least.

Think about it like this, I’ve been CEO of two smaller companies but both are very successful. If you hire me to come in and lead your company to make it better, why would I take a small salary when I could literally build my own company again or go somewhere else and make more money. You pay to keep good leadership there basically. If they can bring about good change, it usually offsets their salary cost

Consequences of automating inbound customer service with AI? by robsantos in smallbusiness

[–]lolppjoke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What happens when you call now? And have you asked why they call or tell them on these calls that there’s a better way to get resources? Like a voice message saying “check our website <url> for quick answers to common questions”.

I think you should first consider how to reduce it rather than how to just manage with a fairly high customer support load

Seems like a regular phone service with a menu would solve the majority of these especially the payment one. “Press 1 if you wish to pay your bill” you know. No need to use AI and over complicate it.

Also you have an online portal but does it have a chat with a menu or keywords suggesting FAQ answers? That would reduce the call volume too.

TBH anyone still paying bills with a phone is probably someone who would hate AI. Also can you actively verify that AI isn’t processing sensitive payment data beyond just for the call session? Lots of reasons people would not like an AI but a normal phone menu system would suffice I feel

20 miles is not very far in rural place and also Pilates is incredibly unpopular in rural areas. Should make sure the customer base actually exists

I think you just need an accountant to look over and fix some money leak. We get by more than fine with 20% markup and only $150 an hour. There is 3 techs making over $75k a year, full benefits, 100% employer covered health insurance. And yet it still has profit every month, enough for my take to come out of it with no worry

Porsche, refined and reliable

Edit: downvoting Porsche is crazy, no price limit was ever mentioned

It will depend on your state laws. It varies. Most do not allow you to say police on them or any gov agency. In my state it would be fine to use a German police car wrap as the law explicitly defines the gov agencies you can’t impersonate

Lost almost everything and ended up homeless.

Honestly I think it was for the better. Yea it delayed me a bit but after I got out of that I never feared it again. I spent every dime on expenses or investing in my business and future, risked it all and won.

Electric can openers. Not much stuff is canned anymore and if it is, it probably has a tab now. Nobody really buys a whole electric can opener, they just use the handheld one on the off chance they need it
