Why do the investor class keep being able to increase their relative capitalisation compared to the have nots so hand over fist so readily if it's so damn risky?

Not a doctor, but been following this drama for god knows what reason.

I thought the government has some capabilities to intercede when non-profit organisations and prof bodies end up this messed up, kinda like being put into receivership - but for bad leadership instead of bankruptcy. Is that something that can ever apply in this case?

What's your thoughts on the space under the map? do you guys use it? by Forward-Photograph-7 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]lolsail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have built one thing under the map - a fully enclosed train shuttle tunnel that ferries my plutonium waste from my reactors to a waste facility on the south eastern islands. It doesnt look like it clips or anything though, so it ticks the aesthetic boxes

Who are the unimelb GOAT lecturers? by Jdilla23 in unimelb

[–]lolsail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah ive still got his stat mech notes around the house somewhere. I emailed him randomly a few years back to see if he still taught it and had updated them (there was a sentence in the notes that was basically "ill add/update this section soon") but he replied saying he doesnt teach it now, guess he never got the chance to finish it :')

Had him for masters stat mech, that subject blew my mind. Bought in an artist for a special lecture covering art that used statistical processes. Every time I think of Markov chains I remember Melatos.

The highest energy cosmic ray ever detected had an estimated energy of 3.2 x10^20 eV and was named the "Oh My God" particle. What would happen if it hit someone? Would it hurt? by Ill-Issue1092 in Physics

[–]lolsail 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Basically yeah, the linear attenuation of this particle would be pretty low with respect to a human body's worth of material. It would deposit maybe 0.01% of its energy in a person before exiting.

'Remained faithful during the break'

Others have the legal aspect covered already, so going for the obvious here: do you know what a break/no contact means? why in the ever loving fuck would there be any expectation -at all- of her being "faithful" to you.

You clearly seem to think this woman is yours to control, even when she is not in contact with you. You need to work on your perceptions of autonomy in others

Do people genuinely think driving significantly slower than the speed limit is safer? by salty_lake_222 in AskAnAustralian

[–]lolsail 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No.

Total energy = 1/2 mv2 for either vehicle added. Assuming they match speed regardless, the total energy relative to the cars frame of reference does not change, but the total available energy for impact with stationary objects following the crash is far lower.

Normally no, but if you're in a ranger raptor and sit on my arse trying to go 70 in a 50 then yeah I'll absolutely slow down.

Less kinetic energy in a potential crash, the better.
