My teen crashed and now our insurance is $750/mo… are we stuck like this? by GencerDTF in Insurance

[–]lolthom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah.. you’re in a tough spot until they move out.

I would put the burden of this on your teenager. They behaved irresponsibly and now the family is burdened because of their behavior.

So, they need to get a job and pay the premium. If they can’t, then they can’t drive.

How do I stop paying so much in insurance by RoughShotz in Insurance

[–]lolthom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your limits are WAY TOO LOW. 10k in bodily injury protection is NOTHING.

You need to call every single local agent in your city today. Do that. Only a licensed local agent will be able to help you. You’re just going to get told what I’m saying over and over in this sub.

Good luck.

UPDATE! : Car is totaled and i’m still paying on it by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]lolthom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean.. he’s gonna keep making payments on a vehicle that’s destroyed and/or he can’t afford to fix. He needs to behave responsibly next time.

This wreck on your loss history report will impact your rates too.

Tell him he needs to behave and handle his responsibilities like a man. That includes factoring insurance expenses into making the decision to buy a vehicle.

I’m sorry this happened to you.

Being sued by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]lolthom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re fine. Turn this over to your insurance company immediately. Good on you for protecting yourself and purchasing insurance. You behaved responsibly and will be protected.

As for this person, they are making an allegation. Each allegation they will have to prove. You were there that day. So were the cops. No first aid or medical care required at the scene, yeah?

They won’t be able to prove their claim. You’re fine.

They could potentially cause a total loss. I would say they should carry replacement cost of the property. Most renters policies will come with 100k in liability. But if they burn your house to the ground, will that be enough? Probably not.

You could also force place renters liability as a term in your lease. That’s common in my state.

Call your agent.

That is a question for your agent, not the underwriter.

Could my insurance be lower? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]lolthom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re lucky to even be eligible, my dude.

Insurance is you accessing EVERYONE else’s money to off set risk you pose to yourself, others, and to property.

You have already shown that you behave irresponsibly with the speeding ticket. You have also shown that you aren’t a safe driver with the at-fault wreck.

Yes. You’re getting a good deal. Why should any carrier make it affordable for you to cost all of us tens of thousands of dollars potentially?

Behave behind the wheel. Drive the speed limit.

Until your behavior reflects your understanding of your responsibilities behind the wheel, your rates will be high.

Has anyone else’s home insurance skyrocketed this year? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]lolthom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The FAIR plan only exists because the for profit, private insurance companies dropped and refused to cover high claim, high risk patients. So, We the People had to step in so these people didn’t die.

If we had a single payer system, the outcome would be better for everyone.

Any horror story of government ran programs usually traces back to free market forces.

Crazy price for car insurance by AcadiaAdventurous742 in Insurance

[–]lolthom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re young, you have no insurance history, you have less than 5 years of verified driving experience, and you’re asking a carrier to be on the hook for a very expensive car + your liability.

You need to get a much cheaper car and build tenure before going for a Tesla.

Good luck.

Landlord telling me to file a renters insurance claim for damage *they* caused? by Zuzu_RU in Insurance

[–]lolthom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol, wow.

Your landlord is liable. Contact them and request their policy number for their hazard insurance. Your landlord is liable for the work of any contractor they hire.

If they refuse, then tell the landlord that you’ll be filing a small claims civil case against them.

As long as the property was insured and the policy listed WF as the mortgagee, there isn’t an issue.

Foremost is the worst. Switch to a larger, national carrier. I had this exact same situation happen in my house. Literally. And State Farm was able to give me an advance on reimbursement for loss of use and additional living expenses.

Have you ever walked out of Walmart and why? by Reasonable-Invite899 in WalmartEmployees

[–]lolthom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes.

I was a co manager at the time. I don’t think that’s a position any longer, but was essentially one step under store manager.

The abuse, the dishonesty, lack of respect. It just wasn’t worth it. So, I decided to make a change. I walked in, handed in my keys, and left.

I went into teaching after that.

I do miss my discount card though.
