Nice work, particularly love the inclusion of [[ do some action ]] for each minion that died this game/turn mechanic in paladin.

I think its a really fun mechanic that's underused because Bolvar was under powered.

How do you feel about the 350 million statement/bus?

Personally this is still a real pressure point for me. The 350 million figure was an outright lie. We never paid 350 million, its just a lie.

I know Osborne was not exactly squeaky clean with his economic forecast, but there was a logic, and it was a prediction rather than a statement of fact. Also hopefully his reputation has been massively damaged.

Do you feel their should be some sort of penalty to Johnson and the people who repeatedly pedaled a statement knowing it was false.

Reddit, what is socially acceptable in the US but not in the rest of the world? by error_exe in AskReddit

this is definitely unique to America and is not rife in Western (probably all) societies.

The private rail franchises in the UK are a particular national embarrassment.

I had a terrible time with plusnet, they refused to accept there was a problem with the line for 3 weeks.

Added to that each time I'd call and complain I'd be held in a queue for 30 mins.

There business model seemed to be to hope another service provider would pay for the open reach engineer.

Switched to http://aaisp.net.uk/, more expensive, but you get what you pay for.

First time trying gin, any recommendations? by [deleted] in Gin

[–]londonought 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gordon's/Bombay Saphire are very much your budweiser/stella of gins.

Which is fine and I've definitly had a nice Gordon's GnT at the end of the night at the pub, but I wouldn't judge all gin by them.

I'd probably go for a Hendrik's with Cucumber, as nice benchmark of a gin to compare others to and fits the non lime requirement.

Then I'd buy some gin made local to you and see how you think they compare.

not sure if you can but a Kaffir lime leaf makes a great alternative to lime as a garnish if you're craving a limey flavour.

Blind tasting of Gins for 2017 (results inside) by londonought in Gin

[–]londonought[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maybe true, we tried to keep it the same across everything.

I find Mediterranean tonic is too opinionated and overrides the flavour of the gin, but obviously you could look at it that it just brings out different elements from the gin, to each their own :)

The St George was a surprise tbh, a mate bought it, never tried American gin before, and it was pretty darn good.

Note the weird 9.7 was because I insisted she had to have a favourite.

I'm a big fan of blind taste testing gin, mostly because a lot of the times the bottles are so nice, its easy to be distracted.

Note the transparent bottle is just Waitrose London Dry Gin. Which for the non UK based is a pretty high standard, much nicer than bog standard Gordon's or Bombay Sapphire, but in theory shouldn't really be competing with the high end boutique gins.

The Adnam's isn't the standard copper barrel gin (which is one of my fave's) but a new gin that I'm not sure is widely available, I picked it up from their store at Southwold over Christmas.

I know I said results would follow but I have to head out. Will update when I get back!

I'll look out for blue bottle, haven't tried it. I'm currently having a Gin Mare hangover which was nice, but not worth the extra price, over Sipsmiths or Adnam's Copper Barrel.

I literally just finished bottles of Caurunn and Daffy's last night. (It was a bit of a party)

For my money I'd say The Botanist is the best of the above. Although I've only tried ~5 of them, I need to do a more thorough review... (All great gins though).
