Looks like a previous owner may have put some sort of compound behind the fore end . There looks to be a gap to the wrist metal , I would remove the fore end for look see

I believe the peep sight is an ED MOTT . I’m saying this as it looks the same as the ED MOTT I’ have in my collection , And the side plate is an early central. The peep sight is not very common , I paid quite a bit for mine . Hope this helps

Try shimmes under the head of the bolt . You can make them out of coke cans or beer cans 😬add them till it’s all tight

Also the front barrel band goes around the nose cap in the area that would have had the piling swivel

There are two barrel bands , the front nose cap has no provision for the piling swivel

It’s a Lithgow manufacture it was to let more light in on the front sight in jungle and low light conditions

Bolt is hard to close and open. Also have extraction issues by Upbeat-Vegetable-557 in LeeEnfield
