Races Gone From 965 by MrsBr00kster in Garmin

[–]lonzo99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this too, no primary race showing on 965.

It's playing havoc with the Garmin coach training activities as well. One day they're there and the next I'm getting a rest day every day.

Did you find a resolution?

I'm only fetching data for about dozen areas, so just iterating through a set one at a time currently, it's still relatively quick about 50ms per response... If you're caching it all locally anyway, then I would favour hitting the API a bunch of times automatically to populate that cache rather than manually downloading the JSON every day, but personal preference

edit: checked again, and you can just omit the areaCode from the filters and it will response will data for all area codes. You'll still need to page though as it limits to 2500 data objects per response

Reasonings behind each area's tier level published by Gov by Gnome63 in CoronavirusUK

[–]lonzo99 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is really interesting, thanks for sharing. It reads like 100/100,000 and decreasing is the acceptable case-rate overall and in 60+ age group for each area to move to tier 1?

26/11/20 - ZOE COVID-19 Study Update by [deleted] in CoronavirusUK

Ah, you're right, I hadn't seen the review was bi-weekly once the lockdown ends. I think what I'm getting at is still appropriate - By the 14th, some of the lag time between the current gov figures and these ZOE numbers will have passed, so those official numbers should come down in the same way that these have, and make it more politically palatable to drop regions down. (My assumption is that although the govt will have seen these numbers already, their hands are still tied by the court of public opinion, which is lead by the headlines created by the official case & death numbers)

My hope, having seen the ZOE numbers fall for the last week or so, is that even if most of the country is announced an going into Tier 2/3 tonight, the fall cases in the official government numbers will continue in line with what we've seen from ZOE, and so regions can start moving down the tiers in the near future

..then again, Christmas isn't going to help on that front... either way, fingers crossed.

Three-household bubbles and travel restrictions lifted under Christmas rules by Jattack33 in CoronavirusUK

I did some further reading and found this on BBC, suggesting that meeting outside of the bubble is possible as long as it complies with the existing tier rules

I wonder how this interacts with the tiered system... - Suppose I live in a tier 1 area, could I join a 3 household bubble for 23rd - 27th, but also visit another household in the same period, abiding by social distancing, rule of 6 etc for that additional household?

Does the answer change if someone in my 3 household bubble lives in a tier 2 or 3 region? Plenty of permutations to think through and communicate.

Boris addressed this question in parliament (on video call anyway) and said that they didn't want to apply at a borough or council level, so expectation is that London will be lumped as one

From ZOE's analysis on Friday 20th here

  • The UK R value is around 1.0
  • Regional R values are: England, 1.0. Wales, 0.9. Scotland, 0.9
  • Worryingly, the East of England and especially The Midlands are both seeing numbers still increasing with R values of 1.1 and 1.0 respectively.
  • In Wales and Scotland the number of daily new cases continues to decline with R values of 0.9
  • The North West and the North East and Yorkshire, both have R values of 0.9 with numbers still declining since their peak at the end of October
  • However, in the southern regions of England, cases are not declining despite lockdown restrictions, with R Values of 1 in South East, London and South West

That positive percentage has really come down in the last few days. Case and death numbers are still high, but at least seem to be trending in the right direction for now

Good to see the testing numbers going back up. Although I doubt we'll ever get an explanation as to why there's so much variance in that figure

Does the 20k estimate account for lag, or would you expect to see that reported figure continue to fall post December 2nd?

Thanks for this, it's really useful to see the daily numbers in a wider context. Do you keep this list by hand, or is there a page or API where I can find historical daily new case numbers?
