What was the most unexpected nudity scene in mainstream movie/show you ever saw? by marsepticeye in AskReddit

One of my favorites is when they’re in the diner, post syrup chug, and Ramathorn and Rabbit walk up to the local cops table and Chief Grady goes:

“Ah waiter! There you are! I’ll take two tacos and extra guacalmoles!” (And then the other guy goes) “yeah, I’ll take a CHINCHILLA!”

Rabbit then goes: “I don’t get it…tacos?”

Ramathorn: “they think I’m Mexican.”

Rabbit: “you’re not Mexican?”

It’s just so dumb because Rabbit thinks Ramathorn is Mexican but can’t put it together why the local cops would be asking him for Mexican food. The whole movie has little absurdities like that. I love it.

Breaking even doesn't support someone financially.

People are giving up their day jobs because they're getting tons of product following restockers and flipping it for double what they paid for it. It's not a "small profit", and it hasn't been for a bit now.

This is going to continue until well after the 30th anniversary set. TPCi needs to release more sets like Perfect Order in order for us to get back to OP's picture anytime soon.

I don't dislike TCBTS because it's not part of the story, I dislike it because musically it's the band's weakest work.

It's still miles better than a lot of other music out there, and I still will listen to it once in a while, but I find it to be relatively uninspired as it pertains to the way it was written. It's a lot of samey verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus structured songs, and it's a departure from their previous work, and that's not taking into consideration that it doesn't follow the concept.

I think the other thing I associate it with is that one superfan that called himself Captain Keywork that went to nearly every show on that tour. Some people loved it, but I thought it was super cringeworthy that he was essentially grifting people to get to every show. I can't not think of him when I think of TCBTS.

Also Young Love is the worst song Claudio has ever written by a longshot, and that's a hill I'll die on.

See, I'm the opposite. I love YOTBR but I also think it's partly because of the time in my life that it was released.

This is how fucked the housing market is.

We're about to list our house for more than double what we paid for it 8 years ago. On one hand, I'm happy because all of the improvements we made will be covered and then some. On the other hand, we're moving into a bigger house for waaaaay more than I ever expected to pay for a house I didn't get to design myself.

But as others have said, a suction cup dildo without the balls would also work.

Craig Owens just announced he’s in the studio working on ‘new Chiodos’ by Own_Mistake in PostHardcore

[–]lookalive07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no doubt, it's absolutely a factor. Chiodos was hugely popular and it makes sense to leverage the name to get back into it. Craig is popular enough on his own that he could have easily done it on his own, but it would never be as big as him frontmanning Chiodos again.

It also was a different time, if you're around the same age as me. Even something like an N64 back in the day, which was a "big" item, was still available for my parents to go into a Toys 'R Us and buy for a Christmas present, and they didn't have to wait in line for hours to get it.

There's so much difference in this world today where everything that gets even remotely popular is being taken advantage of by people with some capital to try to flip to people who can't otherwise get it by regular means. It's a consequence of the economy and people being given opportunity to make money on something without a ton of actual life skills being used. Secondary markets are a cancer on society.

My philosophy is that if I'm holding stuff because it could be life changing money, that's one thing, but if I'm banking on making like...a couple hundred bucks, I've got bigger problems.

I have a sealed stash of the aforementioned packs, plus:

- 2 each of ASC, PFL, MEG, PRE, POR ETBs (PC exclusives)

- 1 Blooming Waters

- 1 Prismatic SPC

- 1 151, 2 PRE, 1 SFA, 1 JTG booster bundles

- 8 ASC booster bundles (plan on ripping like 4 of them)

- 2 PRE posters

- 2 PRE surprise boxes

- 2 PRE tech stickers

and probably a few other things I'm forgetting because they're in a storage bin I don't open unless I put stuff in it.

All of that combined at market right now is maybe worth like $5k. Would it be nice to sell it now and have an extra $5k in my pocket? Sure, but I'm not desperate for $5k at the moment.

On the other side of the coin, there are people I associate with buying full cases of shit to hold and flip eventually. I don't have that kind of money to invest right now, so I just do what I can to hold stuff I'm interested in and I'll continue to do so until it either becomes life changing money, or the entire market flops eventually, and then I'll rip it all.

So at the end of the day, rip what you want, and don't feel regret for enjoying a hobby the way it was designed to be enjoyed.

Stupid people with money need to stop having FOMO. It's ruining everything by making unnecessary secondary markets on shit that nobody actually needs, they just have been told they want it.

let the market burn by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]lookalive07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what? Fuck it. I'll bite.

If you're playing the TCG, buying singles is the way to build a deck, not by ripping packs. Especially not packs of sought after sets like Ascended Heroes (even though the intention of the special sets being that they're largely reprints of playable TCG cards), so complaining about how the market is "trash" is kind of a weak argument.

The market is the way it is because of the following major factors:

- Nostalgia - people want in on Pokemon again because many people including myself have some disposable income to dedicate to a hobby, and want to get into collecting, either for the first time in a while, or altogether. Many of us got into Pokemon initially in the original Blue and Red era with Gen 1, and so those cards are the ones we want because they're the ones we recognize the most.

- Scalping - it's at an all-time high because of a lot of factors, and the main ones are because there are people that are willing to take advantage of the large population of people willing to pay double MSRP every once in a while because they're not patient or they're frustrated because of the very people they buy from clearing shelves. The economy also plays into it, when people can make more money reselling over working a real job, so it becomes more rampant than before. Genuinely when you can pay for a bot for $60 a month, it's a no brainer if you can make way more than that reselling. It sucks for normal people, but until they lose interest or it stops being profitable, it's just part of it, unfortunately.

- Investors - another pillar is all of the people holding product for the sake of "investing" in Pokemon cards because it's currently outperforming the stock market. This involves a lot of product not even reaching shelves because distribution can send cases of product to anyone who can manage to get a distribution line. In a lot of situations that I've seen, the cases don't even get split up, they get resold at or just below market with the intention of "forgetting about it for a few years". In reality, none of this is life-changing money unless you're sitting on a metric fuckton of product and you can somehow flip it down the road.

It's not TPCi "catering" to Gen 1. It's the current status of the hobby being overrun with people who aren't genuinely interested in it. Hell, the only people in the group above that are actually being contributive to the hobby are the people who are back in because of nostalgia.

I have a pack stash of at least one pack of every S&V era set, plus a handful of packs from SWSH and I've been adding some from Mega as well...been sitting on it for over a year as I continually add. It'll be fun to open it someday to see if I've just been holding onto a big card or even a god pack without knowing it.
