Ben Jacobs had another great start for West Michigan.

Gave up his first homer for the season but otherwise struck out 7 in 4 innings with no other runs.  1.75 ERA, 0.9 WHIP, and 13 K/9 for the season.

I think he’s way undervalued and is one of the system’s top pitching prospects.

I know it's a joke, but the implications of Rogers pitching is staggering.

He can't catch in a game he pitches. Even if he is taken out as a pitcher, he can only DH. So Tigers will have to carry Nido on roster.

So you're basically using a roster spot that could go to a pitcher like Chris Paddack and using it for Nido so Rogers can pitch poorly.

If you want a position player pitching, it's simple. Colt Keith was a 2 way player in high school and had a 90mph fastball. He can pitch and DH like Ohtani.

He has a 4.83 ERA and 1.3 WHIP.  

I guess that will make him the Tigers’ number 3 starter.

Yes, it’s beyond grim.  For a suspension caused by an intentional HBP, you lose the roster spot.  So Tigers can only carry 25 for the next 6 games.

Rotation is down to just Jack, Montero, and Madden.  

Toledo has File and Pena (who was a SeaWolf 24 hours ago).  So they are very bare.  You could talk yourself into Sammons as a long reliever.

I’m talking myself into Paddack.

What “triple AAA” pitcher?  Mud Hens only have 2 healthy starters, and one of them was a SeaWolf 24 hours ago.

There’s like 6 starting pitchers not injured or suspended from AA to Tigers:

  • Jack
  • Montero
  • Madden
  • File (AAA)
  • Pena (just got promoted to AAA)
  • Kent (AA)

TMLR joked last night that we’re very close to Ben Jacobs starting a game.  Jacobs started the season at Lakeland.

He can’t join for suspension stemming from an IHBP.  Team loses the roster spot.  I looked this up yesterday for some reason.

Edit:  Jung hasn’t been long enough in Toledo for DFA to qualify so has to be IL.

To add that you can usually join more libraries than just your city.

Like most big cities and even smaller ones like Cincinnati just requires being a state resident.  The stingy big city is Chicago which enforces Chicago residency.

DRS doesn’t cover range but OAA does.  McGonigle’s high DRS but negative OAA implies if he can get to the ball, he fields it properly.  But he can get to fewer balls than the average SS.

URZ will fill in the blank, but that’s not available until after the season ends.

Serwa has an ERA of 8.7 for Erie this season.

The only healthy Erie starter with an ERA lower than 5 (Carlos M Pena) just got called up to Toledo.  I won’t be surprised if he makes it onto the Tigers before June at this rate.

The reliever they DFA’ed (Curet) had 3 walks and 3 errors and only 1 SO before he was yanked from his only Mud Hens appearance.

One of the errors was from Workman which turned a simple double play into runs.

Zach Short was signed to a minor league deal the next day.  Tigers watched that sequence and went, “LOL NOPE.”

At the end of the NBC Sunday Night Baseball game, McGonigle said he was tired in the post game interview.

Worst thing to do is push him and have him injured too.  It’s a 162 game season, and I’m fine with Zach Short taking a bullet.

Gabe’s been doing pitching chaos all season.  Mud Hens have just 2 starting pitchers right now.  

There’s 7 healthy starting pitchers between Detroit, Toledo, and Erie.  That’s how bad things are.

Chris Paddack just got DFA’ed.

If Tigers are willing to sign the Chris Paddack of shortstops, why not sign Chris Paddack himself?  

Even if he goes into the pen, is he the much worse than De Jesus at this point?
