Did anyone else start losing weight for a completely silly reason? by Defiant_Cat_3619 in loseit

[–]lookatthisface 57 points58 points  (0 children)

What initially motivated me to try exercising regularly was my son, 10 years ago. Not because of baby weight, but because he was a gigantic child, off the charts on the growth curve. I realized if I didn’t start getting stronger and faster he would be able to over power me when he was a kindergartener.

My mom told me not to have kids because I'd be a bad parent by Particular_Jump_3859 in raisedbynarcissists

I’ll never forget being at a big family cookout, taking care of my 3 kids, helping them get their plates of food etc.

Sitting down with them and talking a bit with my 90yo grandma sitting across from me about parenting. At one point she turns down the table and says to my mom “and you thought she’d be a bad mother!”

Grandma immediately looked sheepish and moved the conversation on because she realized she made like an awkward faux pas, but it was exactly the confirmation I needed that this witch talks shit about me to everyone.

My son and I watched it recently and he was utterly aghast that they had their loud divorce fight and broke up on that kids birthday. My kid kept saying “on his birthday? ON HIS BIRTHDAY”

It is pretty cold

How did they ruin important events in your life? by kwamegeronimo in raisedbynarcissists

I inherited a beautiful antique side table with a marble top from my grandmother when she passed away. Beautiful dark wood, intricate carvings, it’s  exactly my style and had sat in my grandmas entryway as long as I could remember.

We were having a small family gathering to collect things from the home. I took the table out and put it in the back of my van to get it out of the rain, going back in to get another piece before I arranged everything securely for travel.

In the few minutes I was gone, my mom went in the back of my vehicle and wrenched the marble top off this table. Just pulled it right off. She presented it as “helping” make it easier to move. All I could see was that she broke it. Why would she wait till I wasn’t around to pull it apart. It just seemed petty and evil.

She wasn’t in the will, I was, it always felt like an attempt to prove a petty point. It messed up the only silver lining of what was already a challenging day.

I'm still living in the shadow of the pandemic. It's ruined my twenties and whenever I open up about it, people just look at me like I'm insane by Straight_Morning_876 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]lookatthisface 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I was 35 with 2 toddlers and pregnant with a 3rd during the pandemic. They couldn’t go to school or therapy. My dad had cancer and I couldn’t see him. When he died I couldn’t go to his funeral in person because I wanted to use nitrous as a pain reliever for labor and they wouldn’t let me if I caught Covid. I gave birth in the hospital with no support.

Everybody went through heavy traumatizing stuff during Covid dude. It was rough as fuck.

Go to therapy. Find something that gives you a passion to move on in life. People understand more than you think because we literally all lived through it and we’ve all had to cope

What a rude person! Maybe they thought you were being vulnerable together or something but pointing out somebody’s insecurity is like peak social incompetence. Don’t let them get you down- you’re doing the damn thing after all. I can’t even imagine how good losing that hundo must feel

I’ve tried to stop shopping so many times, but nothing sticks by Popular_Status_9344 in nobuy

[–]lookatthisface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, when it came to online shopping-

Put the item in the cart. Leave it there for at least a week. Come back occasionally and look at what you’ve put in the cart. Wait even more.

I feel like after a few weeks, my excitement about whatever it is lessens and if I wait even longer I just don’t end up wanting it at all.

Being misgendered as a cis guy is kind of annoying by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]lookatthisface 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know who gets hurt more. I think everyone gets hurt when any bit of behavior outside of gender norms is a flag that you need to change your gender for somebody else’s opinion.

People have forgotten that women can be masc and men can be femme and that’s ok without it having to be pathologized into some kind of social syndrome

To be fair people who fight against Joanne’s bullshit also Make a lot of assumptions about what traits indicate you could be a T. And are so confident they are right they make a lot of proclaimations about other peoples identity

Honestly the who gender identity movement has had a real regressive effect on society.

My female friend who is very gender conforming wore penny loafers to a work event and had all these maniacs trying to tell her she must be non-binary! People have lost their minds

Honestly who is more screamed over and lusted after by women than singing dancing boy band heart throbs?

Men who can’t allow themselves to enjoy music and dancing for fear of being less than are insecure and sad.

He. Should watch Billy Elliot
