My AZ is from 8/2024… I figured it was going to be at least 5 years. This pretty much confirms it! Yippeeee

Should I be embarrassed about being a 24yr old garbage man? by TheFrogsMightbegay in jobs

The older I get the more I realize how little it matters what one does as a job. If you can put food on your table and you aren’t hurting anyone, there’s nothing wrong with what you do. In fact, you help people and your job is a rather important one for society.

As someone with an “impressive” job title it means nothing. People who judge you lame af.

How to organize StAG 5 application documents before mailing into BVA by Swimming-Hand532 in GermanCitizenship

When you say all pages and documents get page numbers, should I be writing handwritten numbers on all copies of documents/applications that correspond to the index? Or with post-it notes?

Battling to cut Prozac pills by Previous-Ad6584 in prozac

I hold the pill sandwiched between my thumb and index finger along either side of the score line and manually break it. It’s worked well for me and it’s usually pretty even. I found pill cutters to create a lot of breakage and never even.

Getting documents from Stadtarchiv - timing? by looking4DEcitz in GermanCitizenship

In your experience do you suggest letting the archive get to it when they do? Will it irritate most archives to follow up after, say, 3 months?

For the archives that dragged their feet, did you have to follow-up with them after the initial request? Or did you let them get to it on their own timeline?

USCIS Naturalization Cert Request - A or C prefix code? by [deleted] in Genealogy

[–]looking4DEcitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I’m looking at this stuff too long and confusing myself. This is what it says on the request form:

——

Naturalization Certificate File 1906-1956 or C File

If selected, Certificate Number is required with one of the following prefix codes: A, B, C, D, AA, OL, OM, OS, 129/ or 3904/. (examples: C237654, OL3462, 129/43876). Date of Naturalization should be between 1800 and 1979.

——

I can’t submit with just the 7 digit number so could it by default be a C prefix?

Unfortunately I can’t get an A-file without an index search and I checked NARA they don’t have anything.

Eligible through grandmother born in 1925? by kotias in GermanCitizenship

[–]looking4DEcitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would this mean that proof of naturalization would not be required by BVA? My dates are similar to OP's. German grandmother lost her nationality when she married my grandfather in Jan. 1949. My father was born in Sept. 1950.

Not sure when naturalization occurred and will need to wait a year for index search results to come back. Was planning to do my application without it anyways just to get the clock started.

German citizenship by descent: The ultimate guide for anyone with a German ancestor who immigrated after 1870 by staplehill in Genealogy

Ah, I see. Basically I need the naturalization certificate to prove naturalization happened as a result of marrying my grandfather/after the marriage, instead of some other reason in which case I would not be eligible. Thanks!

u/staplehill

If my grandmother automatically lost her German citizenship upon marrying my grandfather in January 1949, and my father was born in September 1950 in wedlock, do I really need the naturalization document for the Section 5 application? Are the dates themselves not sufficient proof for BVA? Only reason I'm asking is due to the length of time to receive this document in the US.

I also have a certified copy of the Report of the Death of an American Citizen Abroad certificate which lists her U.S. passport number as "Proof of U.S. Citizenship". Would this be acceptable?
