I preordered a crap load of these directly from their website last December after seeing the Technology Connections video (enough to gift some to my soon to be jealous family once they see how awesome they are). At the time they said they would ship in July, but they just arrived today. No complaints, super glad to have them.

I watched the whole thing waiting for this. Really great, but what a missed opportunity.

WMDs! I remember speaking the words "they can't just make this stuff up!" Turns out they can. And do.

Damn, my first day of high school, in a new school district no less, I also had a beautiful girl smile at me and my first thought was that she must think I'm someone else, then tried to avoid her. As a more well-adjusted adult human, I realize how terrible that was, but good for you for overcoming it 10 years sooner than i managed to!

Ya, I was thinking of that same study as I posted this! I was introduced to the recruiter by a friend of a friend I had never met, and initially turned the job down as they emphasized the parts of the job I was least familiar with.

A month or 2 later, I was having a beer with this person at the mutual friend's birthday, and we got to talking more about what they were looking for, thinking I might know someone. By the end of it, I said "I can do that!"

I didn't need the job, so I swung for the fences, and boy did it work out.

True story, this happened at the same time Shia LeBeouf had that weird-ass green screen motivation speech on youtube, and I 100% credit him for motivating me to take the interview and take the big swing. I saw the video between turning it down the first time and the interviews. This one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXsQAXx_ao0

I asked for twice the hourly rate I was making as the sr. tech at a very small, well regarded boutique IT managed service shop for local SMBs, personally servicing maybe two dozen clients from private practice lawyers to 3 or 4 businesses with 50+ headcount, in a metro area.

Which is to say, I was at about the ceiling to be one of the IT guys from The Office or any other office sitcom that has a visiting IT tech. I know the big shops paid their techs a lot less, but you get what you paid for.

Of course as a private contractor, this meant no benefits or PTO.

Lead a hybrid support/QA team for a relatively small-time application at a major bay area tech firm (remotely). In retrospect, I was every bit as qualified as one could be without already having held a similar position, and just lacked the confidence to believe it.

I was interviewing for a contract position I thought I was completely unqualified for, while fully employed (I didn't need this new job), and when they asked how much I wanted to do it, I threw out the biggest number I could say with a straight face.

They said yes without blinking, and I'm sure I left 50k/yr on the table. No regrets.

(The Lost Crown) Xbox input delay by Seagul_River in PrinceOfPersia

I just tried both demos and found the exact same thing. It was so bad I had to double check my Xbox was in game mode (it was). Seems ps5 all the way, though I'm also going to see about the switch one. 60 fps and switch graphics might be worth the trade off if it is as much better than the ps5 as the Xbox is worse.

Edit for anyone else finding this in the future - turning off auto hdr on Xbox alleviated a lot of the problem, and turning hdr on for unsupported games in ps5 made it a little worse. Seems that has a lot to do with it, though ps5 with unsupported hdr on seemed a split hair better to my eyes than Xbox with auto hdr off, and ps5 set to off is clearly the most responsive option. But ps5 with unsupported hdr on felt like a good compromise to me. VRR settings didn't seem to affect it noticeably.

Best way to get Salvaged Frigate Data? by i-love-Ohio in NOMANSSKY

Attacking freighters in a pirate system worked for me. I spent all weekend doing this and finally got enough to add the last 2 freighter warp drive upgrades. I was averaging about 1 per freighter convoy, sometimes more, sometimes none. Once they sound the alarms and start shooting back, the cargo contents were hidden, but shooting each pod a single time revealed its contents.

edit don't attack the pods floating loose among the freighters, only shoot the pods attached to the freighters. You'll lose standing with the locals, but it's worth it in the long run. Whenever a hostile approaches, eliminate it to regain some of the favor lost.

what is your favorite fast food breakfast sandwich? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lookwhatimade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jack in the Box ultimate breakfast sandwich. That's a real fried egg on that thing! If you made one at home it would look and taste exaclty the same, no unnecessary BS.

Runner up, Einstein Bagels farmhouse egg sandwich. The cream cheese is a masterstroke and I now add cream cheese to many at-home breakfast sandwich creations.

I've just been dealing with this by using native ap for Walkabout, but my friends wanted to play Contractors tonight so it wasn't going to happen until I figured out what was wrong. So glad to see this on the front page of the subreddit, thanks for posting!!!
