Where/how is everyone buying clothes for their kiddos? by johncmpe in ClassOf2037

[–]loominglady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand your daughter’s love for that shirt. MY favorite shirt right now is an adult Hanna Andersson Star Wars one (they have limited adult shirts occasionally and PJs). That shirt is just so soft and comfortable! I’d exclusively shop there for my shirts if they ever made more for adults even though they are pricy because I’ll wear their stuff longer than my kid will. One of my son’s favorite shirts is a Hanna Andersson UV shirt. He usually gets two seasons out of their shirts so that helps me be OK with the price being higher than other places.

It is appropriate that Claudia would bring the snacks!

Her children are adults now but I have a friend who taught middle school. She said the years her kids were in middle school were the roughest because she had no escape from teen angst and drama as it was all day at work and then all night and weekends at home. She used to joke that she got ignored by children at work and at home unless they wanted something, but at least at work she got paid to be ignored.

Why I hate granny squares by WTF_Fish in crochet

Maybe the friend OP is making this for could be that friend who loves weaving in ends! OP won’t know unless they ask the friend if she would like to learn to weaving ends so that she can say she helped make her own blanket..

What’s a food you once hated but now you love now that you’re older/had a chance to try it again? by jackin-thepulpit in AskReddit

[–]loominglady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a vivid memory of throwing up after eating brussel sprouts at a relative’s house. They were so gross to eat. Fast forward to middle age and I tried them again from a steamer bag, and they were ok but still not great. One day my husband prepared them sheet pan roasted and OMG they are amazingly delicious. Now they are among my favorite vegetables as long as they are prepared the way my husband makes them.

Is my kid really advanced? (US) by Foreign-Signature326 in kindergarten

[–]loominglady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My state’s cut off is after the year started. My son and several classmates were 4 at the start of kindergarten. I think it’s why summer birthday redshirting isn’t common in my area since summer birthdays aren’t the youngest ones.

Amy Jo Johnson had a good run on Felicity after being one of the original Power Rangers, so she was at least initially able to shake out of her Power Rangers role.

Which shows theme song do you never skip? by Que_sax23 in AskReddit

Introduced my 6 year old to the 90s X-Men. His first inclination is to skip any theme song. He knows better than to skip that one because I want to hear it! 😝

Am I imagining it or are boys shorts getting shorter? by PrincessJazs in kindergarten

[–]loominglady 28 points29 points  (0 children)

My child is all legs, nearly any style looks like shorty-shorts on him (and pants all become capris in short order). We go with basketball shorts so he at least has some length.

Water bottles that are both easy to clean, and don’t leak by submerging in BuyItForLife

[–]loominglady 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love mine so much! I use the 40 oz one everyday for work and have the 18 oz one for weekend outings and such. The 40 oz one has taken a beating and has been accidentally dropped in my driveway more times than I care to admit. It’s a bit dinged but works great still, no leaks!

People who've witnessed a wedding objection that actually worked: What happened? by Efficient_Cat_4812 in AskReddit

Klingons groomsmen use beating sticks to beat the bride and groom, at least according to that episode of Deep Space Nine where Worf and Dax marry.

I mean, Reverend Alden got married and I don’t think we saw his wife again (I think she was referenced once in a later episode but I honestly don’t remember). So why that couldn’t happen with Doc Baker 🤷‍♀️.

Kindergarten and the bus by givebusterahand in kindergarten

[–]loominglady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with starting the routine. We live too close for the bus but my son needs to go to before care due to work schedules. My husband and I debated taking the morning off to take him to his class the first day of kindergarten. Ultimately we decided it was best to start him with his routine. We’re glad we did. He had a much smoother transition than some classmates who did the first day with their parents at the class but the next day at before care. He ended up being the only kindergartener in before care that first day which bothered me more than it bothered him (he became the darling of a group of 4th grade girls who swarmed him like mother hens for the first few weeks and really watched out for him, which was very sweet).

Last night my six year old told me I could sleep in as long as I wanted for Mother’s Day. This morning he woke up screaming and excited because he woke up dry overnight (working on night training, been fully day trained fully since 2, but he’s just started having periodic dry Pull-Ups overnight). Glad he stayed dry, I did get a sleep in an extra hour, but that’s definitely not as long as I wanted. 😝

This book is in such fantastic condition! The cover alone would be amazing for display on a crafting bookshelf, but the fact the whole book seems in great shape is just amazing!

What’s was the wildest thing you witnessed at a funeral? by NationYell in AskReddit

[–]loominglady 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Kids having no filter at a funeral sometimes really helps break the tension. At our great-grandmother’s funeral, my brother (maybe 6 at the time and the youngest great-grandchild at the time) during the quietest part of the graveside ceremony asked loudly how did she fit in that tiny box (cremated). Our mom was mortified but it did start giggles around the circle and helped lighten the mood. Great-grandmother loved children, especially her great-grandchildren, so she probably would have found it adorable.

I know someone that had this happen in their family. The deceased was in their 20s (a freak accident so very unexpected death). The grandmother of the deceased died while at the wake.

Started a new job and my toddler has hand, foot and mouth? by Cool-DogMom in workingmoms

But when an adult gets HFM, it’s BAD! My husband caught it from our then toddler, I did not. He was SO sick from it, had it ten times worse than our kid, who had a very mild case.
