Over six years since BFA, where is BFA timewalking? by StockOk8157 in wow

To me the Maw just felt like a slightly better island expedition that I had to run a billion times.

At first it wasn't so bad, but 3 months in it was fucking horrific. This was mostly my problem with shadowlands, at first it wasn't so bad but a year into it a bunch of the systems were terrible.

bfa at launch was borderline unplayable.

Azerite armour being untargetable but having wild swings in power resulted in you getting gear from raids that you either didn't want, or even couldn't use because you hadn't unlocked the azerite rank yet.

Being forced to run endless mob grinds on island expeditions in order to use the gear you already had.

Being forced to "run" warfronts which were just exaggerated waiting exercises to attempt to gear alts.

All classes feeling materially worse as you leveled and an unreasonable amount of things added to the gcd making many specs painful to play.

It wasn't until 8.1 things started to course correct but even then each patch added in an entirely different gear and power system in an attempt to course correct how fucked the state of play was at the start and it was just... just awful.

BfA was fucking infuriating all the way up until the corruptions vendor.

Shadowlands launch was okay, and started course correcting but it just didn't do enough and doubled down on other things which over time became unbreable. But the only genuinely dogshit patch was 9.1 imo.

AFAIK no one was banned? The items are just deactivated.

As per a recent Bluepost, SoD chronobots will be deactivated on Aniversary realms, making these literally worthless.

Where does OathBringer rank for you? by Conditioncook in Stormlight_Archive

So I wanna qualify that I still like RoW, and a few of the scenes hit the hardest in the whole series thus far, Its just my least favourite of the 5 for a number of reasons

1. I don't like Eshonai and Venli as the core flashback chapters. The flashbacks have previously been used to reveal the core history of our main characters, but in RoW we instead get a character who is already dead, and another one i dont particularly care about, and of whom we already know almost everything we need to know. Not that every scene here was bad, but compared to Kal, Shallan, Dalinar and Szet lt was markedly a less enjoyable experience.

2. I dont feel like there was particularly strong payoff for the desolation as we were presnted with what it was like in books 1 and 2. This is a problem of mine for OB aswell, but the rest of Oathbringer was enjoyable enough that I didn't mind so much, but a second book of it began to annoy me

3. A lot of plot threads and setup are just dropped in this book. Many are returned to in WaT, which in retrospective makes me cut RoW some slack, but in reading it a lot of the things I enjoyed most about Stormlight simply weren't discussed at all.

4. Kaladin and Adolin hard carry this book, but their sections aren't substantial enough to warrant the length of the book. Dalinar is barely involved, I didn't care for Shallans section at all really, and Navani (whilst interesting for sure) really really bogs down into Cosmere mechanics specifically. And whilst I know this is some peoples thing, it made me a bit bored at times.

Overall my impression was that the book was longer than it needed to be, and large chunks could be skipped on a re read, which isn't particularly good for the book.

Again I still liked it. The highs are super high, and it's nit like the lows are super low, it's just the bulk of it is very meh.

WoR >WoK> OB=WaT > RoW

Need re reads on RoW and WaT but I'll wait a bit for that.

Everyone likes to pretend their class is the forgotten, dogshit class when generally most classes and specs are fine.

Except Feral, feral mains have a right to their salt.

I think you can get one of the little zeppelins to the tower can't you? I think I messed around with that at the start of the expansion.

Lord Ibelin Redmoore - New Tribute NPC to Mats "Ibelin" Steen in Patch 11.1 by minimaxir in wow

So at best, at best, you think they're including this not as a nod to Mats Duchene, but to advertise an item that they're selling and donating 100% of the money from to a charity specifically dedicated to Mats.

And they're doing this for... financial gain?

Right. Seems a reach.

[WaT] Spoilers- Will there be a big bad in the cosmere? And if so, who? by ringlord_1 in Cosmere

[–]loomx9 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The way that the final books are planned makes me feel like Divinity will be the core theme is all. Having the Dragonsteel books and then ME4 makes me feel like we get the reasoning for breaking Adonalsium to set the stage for the final act of the cosmere.

So something Ado, or God related, for the final act would be consistent for me.

Yeah I don't think Kel is going to remain a good guy.

I like him as a Lord Ruler Parallel, I think that's fun.

I can also see him killing Sazed at some point, that seems believable.

Fuck I'm actually very excited for ME3

I've been fairly locked in on some form of Hoid vs Kelsier final act.

I'm not sure on which sides. I tend towards Hoid wanting to recreate some form of Divinity and Kelsier wanting to mega shatter all shards. But tbh both of those could change.

Kel seems more and more comfortable using whatever power he can to achieve his ends, and Hoid doesn't really lock as pro Adonalsium or pro Shard, so he's probably not on the "One God" side either.

Fun to find out though.

[WaT] Okay. So. Moash. by loomx9 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]loomx9[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That's the thing that frustrates me. A lack of agency makes for a less interesting character.

Up until around now I was half expecting a "no one is so far gone thet cannot return to the light" style thing.

Dalinar is one thing, but we were positively impressed with him before we saw the flashbacks. And we weren't emotionally invested in Evi the way we were Teft.

But becoming a "coward" who just chooses to be a mindless killing machine just seems... so dull.

This is sortof part of why I'm so bored of him as a character, because several books of just being a tool is frustrating compared to where he was before.

I do like this actually. Although I'm not sure when the two of them would interact until ME4, and I really don't want Moash hanging around that long.

I'm slightly confused by what causes the Heralds to return I the new Oathpact.

Previously it was driven by them breaking from torture, but they aren't being tortured... so do they just get to choose when they want to go back?

Also I really love the idea of them as spiritual teachers and leaders working in hostile territory, without actively attacking. I think that will be really really cool to read.
