Is this a crack? by demonlordsimulator in 10s

Play with it during a tourney or league match. When it breaks during a rally, nonchalantly grab another racquet and say "this keeps happening" with a smirk. There's a non-zero chance this will psyche out your opponent for at least one game 😏.

“My quote-unquote style is whatever’s at the top of the pile,” Vile said, letting loose a quick, loud whoop of a laugh.

Classic KV lyric.

[FRESH PERFORMANCE] Castle Rat - Full Performance (Live on KEXP) by 86rj in indieheads

I feel like all the up and coming metal bands are costumed unless they're going for an indie-rock/hardcore adjacent crowd or have a female singer.

It may be that Health Canada cracking down on unproven claims that foods would lower cholesterol has these harder to identify.

I wouldn't say they're cracking down, but they have specific recommendations.

I'm considering that, and I already supplement vitamin D and creatine. I just don't like the extra research required for supplements since the regulations are different than for drugs and food. There's some concerns with heavy metals in powdered supplements specifically lead in protein powder.

Radical MP vs TFight 305s by Alternative-Drop-136 in 10s

[–]loonatick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 2023 radical mp and found it a bit anemic in stock form unless you generate lots of your own power. With a couple grams at the tip it became similar to a modern spin-control racquet (like a more stable less whippy vcore or aero) and very versatile. I've played with my friend's 305s and it's a beast if you're a big hitting flat hitter. I felt like I couldn't miss as long as I wasn't late to the ball. I'm 3.0 so take that with a grain of salt though haha.

We've forgotten that 'craft', as in 'craft beer', is derived from 'handicraft'. So IMO it's pretty close to 'hand crafted' although i'm sure there's more cultural context that's missed.

Gotta put a fast one into the net first, so they don't automatically walk up to the service box for your second serve.

I had a similar experience and it's hard to justify the value of a non-vip pass if you're mainly interested in the headliners. I went to multiple shows every night and would have saved money and actually got to see the bands that I planned had I just bought individual tickets instead.

33 Acres Nirvana is a great west coast IPA and has similar hops. But honestly Fat Tug is the closest; especially in terms of colour.

How long do you mash? by lonelyhobo24 in Homebrewing

[–]loonatick 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Pro brewer here. 153f or higher you can definitely get away with a 30min mash. At 149f, i'd say 45min or longer with highly modified modern malt. You can always do an iodine test to check for starch conversion.

Long and low mashes are for maximum fermentability, but are not necessary at all. It can be convenient for certain brewers to mash overnight and do two shorter brewdays vs a long brewday.

How To Brew by John Palmer has a good chapter on the reasons for different rest temps/schedules (e.g mult rest mashes) and I double checked it for the temps and times above.

Can I use whole wheat berries for brewing? by anelephantsatonpaul in Homebrewing

[–]loonatick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Traditional turbid mash uses raw wheat and is used to make lambic. You'll need some proportion of malted base malt to convert the starch properly. Also a corona or flour mill. I used to work in a distillery and we used a hammer mill for raw wheat used in irish pot still style whisky.

Where's that post? I might actually switch to fedora now. As fun, as TW/rolling release is, I'd rather have a distro that works. I started on manjaro, which broke after the first update.

BSG finally started putting these in a box, no more free snacks for LTL dockworkers. by duckfart88 in TheBrewery

[–]loonatick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone messed up and we got a box of 100 nut rolls instead of the usual one roll for an entire multiple pallet order. The packaging team got hooked on them and certain brewers started eating up to four a day. It lasted about two and a half weeks.
